Calling all Pitbull 08 owners with "problems" with a leaking fuel tank which destroys the paint job and causes staining all over the bikes frame.
I will be retaining an attorney in the coming days and anyone interested in joining in a class action suite against Big Dog on this issue is asked to reach out and contact me.
I have been attempting to get them to repair my tank for over 18 months now...first time they "fixed" it made it worse with flaking paint around the fuel tank opening....
Was informed today that they would repair my tank once again but as my bike is out of warrantee, their hands are tied on making the rest right.

Brilliant customer service.....and to think I almost ordered a Wolf this week....

Bikes out of warranty but they are willing to fix it so sue them. Good call.
Is this the dealer telling you this or have you contacted BDM directly????

This is directly from BDM.
The "problem" is inherent with the design of the tank opening on the side (not highest point of the tank) which has nothing to do with the warranty.

I was "bikeless" for 3 months already while they tried to fix this already but it made the problem worse....leaks even more than before plus the paint is flaking around the tank opening due to the fuel getting in under the paint job...

I love my bike...dont get me wrong...I just want them to fix the "problem" and get my bike to a pristine condition again....silver paint job with yellow fuel stains is not a good look....at any showing!

Good Luck Has anyone else had this problem? Think you would have to have a significant number of customers with this problem before you could do a class action. I would be happy if they just repaired it after the warranty expired.

Just my 2 cents

By your on account, the problem is inherent... soooo, why not let them "fix" it, sell it and get your wolf? :zz2cents:

I'm guessing most BD riders here know not to overfill their tanks such to cause fuel to leak out the vent all the time sufficient to cause staining.
Way to support our brand; good luck to you and your quest to make friends here and with Big Dog. I hope you get it taken care of and sold.

I agree you sound like a nother one of those folks that should have bought a Yameha Vstar and not a custom chopper.
I am curious though did you atempt to sue the company that said your dick would get bigger if you took their pills????

bad thing about this is it probably costs more fighting it then getting it repaired.

which BD is well aware.

do you have pictures of the damage?
I haven't had any problems with mine so far.
I try not to top it off and usually run with the cap just snug enough to avoid vapor lock.

hope everything works out for you.

What you describe is indicitive of a venting issue from the cap. It's not unique to any bike brand. When the cap does not vent the fumes can get under the paint around opening. Once is starts it's almost impossible to stop. You could have a bad cap or if you ever used a cheap aftermarket cap, the same thing could have happened.

At any raIe, as said before, t's a custom - the warranty is over. I don't think it's a good idea to use this forum with the anticipation someone from BDM will see your post and somehow work toward your benefit - that's not what we are here for.

Many here, including myself, found things on our bikes that could have been done differently - we took matters into our own hands and figured out how to redesign or rebuild parts to suit our needs. It's a custom bike.
