So, I had my seat changed. Ive complained before about how much I dig my Pitbull but, cant take the abuse as much anymore. I looked, & looked for alternatives. I even contacted BDM. Werent alot of options. I looked at the Chopper Shox, etc...

Well, I found a local guy (well, kinda local)... who was excited to work on it. He hadnt done one but really wanted to. By done one, I mean.... put this type of setup on a Pitbull. He's worked on plenty of BD's. Had a few in shop actually, & builds ground up customs too.

Anyways... He custom fabricated the spacers for the springs to sit on, bolted them on the cross member, painted em to match. Here's the end result...
















I kind of like the look. Granted, I didnt do it for looks, I did it for ride-ability. Hit a home run there btw. It aint a softtail but, its waaaaay smoother. The rough roads, are slightly rough now. The semi rough, are now smooth. Im very impressed with just how much it improved the ride of my scoot.

I sit a couple inches higher now, which took a few miles to get used to but, overall a much better ride. So.... mission accomplished. My dog is much smoother, which should equate to more dog time.

As for the look.... tell me your opinion. Like it or not...?

You gotta go with what works for you dude and screw what people think. Not my perference but hey if it rides better for you than what the hell do care what I think. Ride man ride and enjoy.:2thumbs:

agree totally NutCase. That is in fact why I did it. Lookin for that better ride. I only put 50 miles on it today after pickin it up but, rode many different road types purposely. Best its ever rode. It'll end up equating to more Dog miles, less Hog miles. Whereas for the last few years, its been the other way around.

I am curious to everyone else's opinions though. Only for curiousity though... not like Im gonna go back to the original cause someone thinks its ugly :D I am considering talking to a seat guy, & dressin up a little better. Its pretty plain. Im thinking about havin it covered in something that looks better this winter, if I can afford it.

This seat swap, with fab'n the spacers etc was only $500. To me that's a sore dick. Ya cant beat it :up:

Luv the look, Roof!!! Kinda gives it that Old School look. But hey, you know what they say about opinions... :roll: Jus my .02 cents. :2thumbs::cheers:

I'm with everybody else, who cares what anybody thinks. Personally I like it, looks retro! Ha, but then again, so am I.

I think the look fits your bike and I'm glad to hear that it makes your ride more enjoyable. That's all that counts...:2thumbs:

I've got an '08 Pitbull, and I too was looking for options to soften up the ride of the rigid frame. Went first with the lighter weight springs and while it helped a bit, I still found myself sliding off the back of the seat when I gave it some throttle as the seat was too flat. So I ended up going with the BD drop saddle, which resolved one issue, but she's a pure hard-tail now, and the old-school look of the spring saddle is gone. So needless to say, I like what you have done. It looks great, and kudos for getting some more comfort out of it.

Bubba.. I weigh about 185lbs. The whole set up cost me $500 installed.

Breeze.... I feel ya man. I fell in love with the Pitbull based on appearance. That's why I bought that model. It didnt bother me so much when I first got it as, I was just so excited to have it. Cool was more important than comfort :D Now, 6+ yrs later..... I still love the cool but....... comfort has become more important. I just cant stop father time. Plus... Ive been pretty hard on my body. Not including intake.... just being a roofer for 20+yrs, adult football for 10yrs, softball... you name it. Ive put alot of miles on this 40yr old body. I feel 25 some days... problem is, somedays I feel 60+ :roll: Anyways, I love this bike, wanted to try this so I could ride it more. Looks like that is going to happen now. What an improvement. :up:

Appreciate everyones input. Again, this was a comfort thing but.... just because comfort is sliding up the scale to #1 on the list.... cool is still #2 :D

She's got her own bike :D If she wants to ride with me, we get on the RoadKing. She's never had any desire to ride on the Pitbull.... she's scared of the hardtail. She wants to ride it without me :eek:
