Hmmm I'm in but reluctant to share personal info on open forum ...Trailers..tools ..and willingness to help out a fellow biker ..any brand yes, member of BAM for a while now ! "never been called " I'm not real sure I would open my home at three AM to someone who just happens to own a BD If I knew ya yea but really if you think about it do you really know some of the members on hear ??? Just what they have posted in the past ..if we do this ,lets do it right and take some time to think it out . I know of many bikers who will NEVER cross my threshold . I would help them out on the side of the road ..and help them on there way but would not trust them as far as I could throw them.. Call me paranoid but I sleep with a loaded 45 right by my bed . And I shot Expert in the suck. You have to earn my trust.
I'm all in for this! Feel it's a great idea. BAM member (but never used) too. But same misgivings. Call me anytime, day or night, and I'll be there. I have a truck, access to a trailer, a garage full of standard (but no specialized) tools, internet access, a cell phone, right down the street from one of the best BD dealers and mechs, and a garage fridge filled with cold ones. But to actually let you in my house, well...unless you're Ray, Knotso, Tim or someone with an established background, you'd better make a reaaaaaally good first impression!!! :loony::roll::2thumbs::cheers:

PS: Just a perfect example of what we're talkin about, and I'll be perfectly honest...only a relative handful of people on this site actually "know" me. Yes, I own a BD, and everything mentioned above is true. But I'm also a convicted murderer who spent more than two decades locked inside a maximum security prison. What anyone else thinks of that, I could honestly care less than half a shit. The past is the past, and today is a whole new future. But unfortunately, we're not all like that.

Jus sayin. Gota be careful.

I was in last time this came up and I am in now. Gotta truck, trailer, basic tools, garage, mc jack and the bar is usually stocked. A place to stay can always be determined later and I don't think members should expect that unless it's offered.

State Captains sounds good, maybe even divide the bigger/more Big Dog populated states into sectors. Like I am in the panhandle of FL and am slowly getting to know a lot of my BD brother-en around here. That could help with the networking piece of this puzzle...knowing the area and actually knowing the other riders around you.

I am ok with giving cell and general info. I like the idea of being a supporting members, cuz that will help the site and help keep the riffraff out. But it may also limit the number of people who will help. Plenty of regulars on here aren't supporting members.

What do you mean "Ray didn't make it to the luncheon"? I rode next to him just out of Deadwood, he was at No. 10, the ride, and the KOA luncheon.

Shovelcowboy
He made it to the luncheon, but you missed the part when he ran out of gas before getting there.:lol: My point being, I don't want calls at 3 AM saying I ran out of gas, and I am 50 miles away from you and its raining :lol: Ray is cool and I just like to tease him a little, Navy vs Marines we get along great.

I'll bite. I like the state captain idea. I'm always up for helping someone out as long as I'm in town, and not getting laid or too drunk to drive...

From the sounds of it this may shape up to be really handy tool for everyone in the near future.
I've got truck, trailer, tools, two large couches, air matress, ice cold beer, straight tequila, Hot shower, and a lady that cooks awesome southern food, plenty of ammo, and a good attitude! LOL

TJ
Exactly what he said! Except for the truck and trailer (i can ask for one if needed though)and the ammo, so I DONT have this Glock and NO Ruger ok!
Also no need for ya to be in trouble, you can crash at my place and town whenever you want!

If the state capt has the #'s and the person wanting help is willing to give up their #. less likely to have problems, because the person willing to help isn't giving any info except to supporting member(captain).
