higher quality kick stand
adjustable ignition system
metal side covers..(instead of plastic)
use std hand controls ( use HD style)
use std foot pegs
no ehc...
heaver gauge wire harness through out the bike
higher quality wheel berrings
optional springer front ends
better water proofing elect connectors plugs
I'm sure I could come up with more..
Yep, yep & yep! They either need to come up with more options & accessories or standardize the bikes so that the owner can add his / her own aftermarket parts. This proprietary crap is no good for the consumer unless BIG DOG offers more parts options.

I like the idea of a fuel gauge but certainly not a make or break for me....

I'd say #1 is more parts. Customizable options. Many end up with aftermarket parts, upgrades, customizations, etc... because BDM just doesnt have alot of those options. I know HD makes a killing on em.

Some will still buy their custom parts elsewhere. However, taking HD as an example....MANY will buy name brand shit made for their exact bike, regardless of the cost. It's a win/win for everyone. BD makes more bucks, BD owners get what they want.

2012 model......a pro street model with a little less rake, a motor that is hot, but smoother, final drive gear ratios that are higher, and a bigger gas tank.

Secondary chain drive kit. (full kit sprockets, chain, spacers, etc)

Lower drive ratio gear. (Better exceleration and should'nt make a dern to EPA)

Programable igntion to replace stock with the correct conectors, bolt on. (yes it may affect warranty but ya know that up front when ya buy it.)

Springer seat kit for the Ridgeback (again full kit)

Handle bars just from what they have in house (like K9 bars for the mastif and have it available with the correct cables in a kit. No guess work)

Theres lots of things they could offer, but I know they don't and can't tie a lot of money up in inventory that may or may not sell. Their suppliers need to be on a JIT inventory program. Where if BD needs it, Its no more than a week away.

All easier said than done thou. Just some thoughts.

+1! I definitely think that open primary kits are a must. If Big Dog could sell a decent primary, at a competitive price... I'm very sure that many dog owners would have them! And a springer seat would be great too! I think that I would be the owner of a springer seat if they offered one. :2thumbs:

Although my Pit is an outstanding breed here are a couple of things that I ran into along the way in ownership that I would like to see:

Functional
- Better Speedo all the way around, too much discussions on speedo issues with flashing mods
- Drain plugs on all lube areas (primary, tranny, oil tank) those pipe threads are a bitch.
- Handlebar control areas to polich around the buttons, Chrome them or make buttons more flush, my mothers mag is eating up the buttons
- Gas gauge, not to detract from the tank if possible but is a hassle if I show off at the station and forget to reset.
- Keyless start, Harley has a good idea on the switch turn and I know BDM used to allow for key removal that made problems with keys falling out but the key insert could be adjusted to make it look more clean.

Beauty
- Stock internal weights on tires to eliminate unsightly external balance weights, not sure you can do this out of the factory but would be nice
- More diamond cut/polished stacks on the engine
- Rear LED brake light band under the rear fender, saw a chop installed with this and in addition to normal lights it lights up the rear tire when the brake light is engaged, awesome. Not sure it is legal though.
- Color schemed spark plug wires. Eliminate any black wiring from the bike if possible, unless it is a black bike.
- Stock air cleaner vents, the vented look was a first cheap mod that I did that just increased the meanness of the engine.

The fit and finish is still in my mind second to none, really it is the small pieces that I have found easily moded that makes the bike perfect.

What would you like to see BDM do for the model year 2012?

Also put the gas tank opening on the highest point when it is on the kickstand.

Your thoughts?

Is that so you can get another 1/10th of a gallon in it? :D

...if so, then when you take it off the stand, it will leak! :loony:

...Or do you ride with your kickstand down?:D

Every lil bit helps and the taste of premium is inspiring as it leaks into the wind..

I agree. A pro street model without all the chrome and polished aluminum.....a badass S&S 124 WITH a good cam....300 or 330 rear. Kind of like the "Drag Pak" Mopars you could order from the factory. Do the same thing....just make it a special order bike from the factory.
To go along with that, make it possible to special order items that are installed at the factory such as optional engines, primary drives etc; BDM wouldn't need to stock the optional engines, just order them when the bike order comes in. The buyer would have to understand that it will increase the time of delivery. As for open primary drives, Baker currently make a open primary for the Big Dog's......just have the BDM logo milled in it. That way parts will be readily available.

Digital speedo, better headlight design w/HID,fuel gauge, 124 s&s, open primary option. And yeah, new mastiff design. A great dane design 23" front 20" on back; with wide ass 330, now that would be a BIG DOG. Just dreamin.
Big Dog 330 Back Tire HID head lights/ Intergraded leds built inot rear fender with turn signals. 124 S&S motor. Full Air Suspension and redesigned Gauges:whoop:
