I would go the WP route before you need it. I'm being hypocritical because I have the kit sitting at home, just haven't made the time to install it.

I may try to get it done the 4 days I have before I leave for Sturgis. :loony:

Hmmm....I just looked up the list price for an EHC for an 05-08 Mastiff and came up with $413.95. Something doesn't smell right! Of course, BD doesn't have any available.

I hope that is right, maybe they have changed it or the price was for one with the pigtail, not sure. What I am sure is that the dealer has never tried to screw me over and I doubt that they would now. If I can get one for 413, I will buy it.

When at the dealer yesterday for their open house, the back shop was actually installing one of the Wire Plus. They told me it was their 4th one so far and seemed to like it overall.

Best to you Kathy

EHC

I have an EHC I'm selling I came out of my 05 mastiff. i know WP is the way to go that's why I have one to sell. I converted my scoot to a WP unit but if interested and wanna keep the EHC I have one to sell.it's he newer style one. If anyone is interested PM me and we'll work something out...

All I gotta say is...damn sound like you are getting :job:

If the only issue with yours is the Oil pressure light you can wire around that easy. The oil pressure switch is simply a pass thru in the EHC anyway. You have a few ways to do this, really what ever you think is the easiest. The Orange wire in Power Connector (Pin A6) needs to connect to orange wire in back bone harness (Pin B33). The pressure switch is a normally closed switch. When it has oil pressure the switch opens up until you have no pressure. When the switch is closed it grounds the signal thru the sensor case, this grounds one side of the LED in the annucniator and lights the LED.

Just use a multimeter to make sure you are cutting the correct wires and splice them togehter. Problem fixed. You could also run a new wire from pressure sensor to Orange wire from B33.

I have not bought one yet and do not know if that price will hold or if that was the price they had when it was discussed. As far as I know they have not bought any at that price yet, so it may change by the the time I buy one, that is if I buy one.

If it sticks near the 800, I will not buy one and go WP. I have no reason to think the dealer is trying to rip me off. They may have just got a SWAG from BD at the time it was discussed. Trust the dealer very much.

That said, the old one is working fine and I appreciate the info on the OP pressure sensor and I may run a wire up to the tach ring just as a precaution to give more than OP gauge. Very familar with the wiring of the EHC, so if I do, will splice it between the harness connector and the tach ring. Do not want to cut into the harness at this time.

Just finished converting the 2004 Mastiff to the WP. Jake was quick to answer any questions I had. Everything went smooth. Keep your laptop
by your workstation and follow the steps. Hardest part was making it look
somewhat presentable with the seat off. Big Dog it seems is pissing off the
only people whom talked positively about their bikes, the owners. Thanks again Jake for giving us owners a alternative.

Just reading this and if the dealer Fiber is speaking of is the same that changed out my VR on Sat I would say that they were not just shooting shit. They have been very decent people to work with and being the parinoid sucker that I am about my mess, when I got my bike home I took everything apart to check the install and they had done an excellant job. Also have been very straight forward on parts prices and availability. V:2thumbs:

The same one. I was standing with Fiber when he was talking with the parts guy about the price.

The New BDM EHC is $800 because they have to cover replacing it three times within the 90 day warranty!!!! :)
Jake i bought one in 07 for my 04 for 202.50, friend on mine bought the retro fit for his 04 in 08 at Ringold GA for 465 bucks, the dealer told him the warranty was gone when he walked out the door with it, this must vary greatly from one dealer to another..Dave.

I had replaced one on the 05 a couple of years ago and it was just over $300 at that time. The price given to me recently was based on what they were showing from BD at the time (June 2010). Price may have changed since then, but never felt like I was being ripped from the dealer on service or parts and have no doubt that if they had some listing to show close to that price, it was a good price.

The dealer to the best of my knowledge has not put none on recently, but have been installing WP for customers and they seem to be happy with the install and overall product.

Hopefully as soon as Big Dog gets some out there (barring that they do) with a better quality, the price may be more resonable. Right now the spare is holding up well.

The $800 price tag is for the NEW ones that will be available in the next couple months. There is going to be that drastic price increase from the $450-$550 that dealers were getting in the past, up to this new price of around $800.

Dealers will still probably discount them down to around $650-$750 but they will no longer be under $500 anymore... from what I have heard.
