Help needed with headlight bucket replacement

Hi,
I had a scratch on my headlight bucket on my 07 BD Chopper. So I bought a replacement bucket for it (Adjure flamed). Well I have it all apart but noticed there is a small coiled up wire in there that is spliced into the black wire (ground) and don't know what it's for, or if I even need it? The new bucket does not have the coiled up wire in it's wire harness. I am also replacing the stock bulb with the BD HID Conversion kit (plug & Play) I bought from LowDownChopShop (bdmridgeback). I'm stopping right here because I don't want to screw something up.:bang: Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Roedog, change out the socket with an HD one or go to the auto parts store and get one. Do not remove that coiled up wire whatever you do. It serves a purpose but I forgot what exactly. I need to refer to the manual for that. You shouldn't have any problems with your EHC since it's an 03. It's alll the newer bikes that have that problem.

After I removed my EHC and installed the Wire-Plus module, I eliminated that 5 feet of coiled wire and grounded the plug in the socket along with the factory ground at the battery.

Thanks Eric for the reply but I'm more confused now ... does that mean I can remove it or cut and re-solder it in and use the old harness?

I too bought the Adjure. I thought the coiled wire was a fix also I'm running an 08 Mastiff. I just used the old harness, the headlight works great...:2thumbs:

Magoo...07 manual indicates black coiled wire from headlight feeding straight back to EHC. Got the 07 manual right in front of me. If you have any further questions, PM me and send you my phone to try and work thru it.

I too have that manual but wasn't sure if it was needed or not, just going to use the old harness. Thanks a lot!

Well... I got it completed and works like a dream! Thanks to all of you that replied. I did use the original wiring harness and kept the coil of wire. Can't wait till it gets dark out now to see how the 6000K HID light looks that I got from Jake at Lowdownchopshop!
