Need help

Can someone tell me the difference between the 2003 K-9 and the 2006 K-9? I know the motor is bigger on the 06 but what else is different? Thanks!

Yes I am the winner of it. I was just wondering what the differences from the 06. I dont see to many 03's out there so I was wondering did I make a mistake buy buying an older one?

It's called a Chopper, in my 2003 manual they only made the Prosport, Bulldog, Pitbull, Boxer, Husky, Mastiff and Chopper..The 5th digit in your VIN is an "N" it designates it as a Chopper not K-9...Hope that helps.

The model is a CHOPPER...for a coupla years they had a CHOPPER and a K9...and then stopped making the CHOPPER and continue to make the K9...supposedly they are coming back with the CHOPPER,which will be just a little smaller bike and less bling for less money....according to rumour on this site they seem to be gonna call it a GREYHOUND... do some research on this site and learn a little more about your bike...all the info you want is at your fingertips....good luck

LOL ok.. I am from Va but working in Kuwait right now as a DOD Contractor. I am transfering back to Va in Sept. I want a Big Dog chopper sittng in my garage waiting on me! LOL This site has helped me out alot so far with the recalls ect.. I emailed the guy about the bike I just bought off ebay. Hopefully the recals have been done. I have also sent BD a email with vin number also.

I have found alot of information on the 2003 model so far. but i am still looking to see what the difference is as far a size wise compared to the 2006 K-9. If someone could point me to the specs on the 2003 I would be set! I have the specs on the 2006 K-9.

Umm the ebay ad says it's a Chopper, that actually is a model name as the guys above said. There are several Big Dog models that are soft tail suspension. I think you done good there getting it, especially with miles that low. Do a search there may be a downloadable PDF for the owners manual that will give you some more info.

Thank you. I am wondering if I made a mistake buy buying the 03. seems I can get a 06 K-9 for 4-5k more. Opionions on if it would be worth spending that much more?

No mistake!! NOTHING wrong with your 03. You will just love the 107 S&S (might even have the factory installed 600 cam). I think the world of my 03 Pit. Best of luck with it, and welcome home.

thanks.. LOL tend to od that alot.. buy something then due the research! So far I am ok with what I have learned about it. If I would have done the research first i think i would have went with a newer k-9 but then again I would have spent more money.. So I will just be happy with what I bought lol.

It seems parts are alot easier to find for the newer K-9's. Anyone point me in the direction on where to buy fenders, tanks, passenger seat, back rest and exhaust? Or what other years are the same as the 03 chopper for those parts?

I guess they dont sell parts anymore for the 2003. I sure cant find any..
