Ankle boots, jeans and long sleeve shirt when going on base, it's a requirement. I usually ride this way all the time. I'll usually change into a short sleeve when not going on base. I guess I'm old school, I keep somewhat covered up and because of my short stature, I burn my leg on the pipe through the jeans so, I know for sure I would if I wore shorts, so I don't...:D

The "real" bikers can kiss my big fat white ass! :job:  If it's hotter than a rat's ass in hell's kitchen (which it's been here in Misery these past couple weeks), I got news for you...I'm wearing shorts! Could honestly give a crap less what anyone else thinks. I don't ride to portray an image. I ride because I live for it. Period. :2thumbs:
I agree...It's been very hot here and I've been wearing my shorts. However I still wear shoes/boots .......

Never ride with shorts, but as hot as it has been, the temptation is there. Normally long sleave shirt to prevent sunburn. Armor jacket on the sport bike, many time leather jacket on the BD unless it too fricking hot. Flip flops or anything less than leather boots is never worn when riding. Normally open face helment on the BD, full face on the Sport Bike, sometime on the BD for long road trips.

Wear what you want and enjoy the ride.

I just wanta ride
:iagree:
Yep, shorts here too...got the healing burn mark right below my right calf. And don't forget the occasional bee up the shorts stinging your ass!
Yep got the burn mark same place and had to have skin graph to fix the burn. Would still ride with shorts on a short trip around town though.

Only time I rode in shorts was when I rented a bike in Hawaii when we pulled in to port for a couple weeks... and the burn mark to prove it.

But here in the PNW... it's usually not too hot for jeans. lol

Nobody said anything about wearing sandals or flip-flops...that IS stupid!
And once you've touched a hot pipe with your leg, you LEARN to be careful and NOT do it again.
Regarding 'road-rash', I'll grant you that thin layer of denim will protect some but there are much bigger issues to deal with if you do go down....been there, done that!
And as far as a "brain transplant"...that's why I wear a helmet.

Bill - interesting thread.
I say each to his own - for me, boots and jeans give me a sense of comfort.

Very outspoken dogs in the kennel here...I don't think wearing shorts on a dog is for me, but I certainly don't look down on people that do. I will say thought, during my crotch-rocket days, I wore shorts all the time in the summer....for some reason, it doesn't look as awkward on a sportbike. Thanks for your feedback ...
