Best Reliable Open Primary

OK Guy's, I'm looking to convert my DD6 primary over to a Open Primary on my K-9. What is the best, most reliable unit out there on the market? Any feed back or information would be great!

Thanks!

Do you have the Baker open primary on your bike?
No, I have just been reseaching on them and really liked this one, mainly because it was made by Baker. Why, is there something wrong with this unit, has anyone else here used this unit? Looks and sounds almost bullet proof to me. I priced it and they are just under $3000.

The Baker belt drive is quite while the Karata belt drive has a whine that sounds bad ass, like a blower...:2thumbs: Both are reliable...

I have a closed primary and have chatter, it's not real loud, but I can hear it...

Been running a Primo Brute IV for more than 8000 miles -- zero problems and stupid simple to install.

Anyone running the Baker Synchronous Belt Drive? Like the fact they use stainless steel pullys and large tooth belts. Only real draw back is the belt width is only 2.4" wide. Talked to Baker and they said the drive was specially designed for balance and preformance on the big dog bikes.

Comments???

I have about 200 miles on my Baker SBD, which is attached to my 2007 K-9.

2.4 inch belt is not a draw back. The belt width should be commensurate with the stresses implied by the engine. A 2.4 inch belt is more than sufficient for the output of the 117 ci S&S.

The balance of the bike was not changed with the stock primary replacement.

Wider belts are great for big power dragsters, but they look "funny" on BDMs. I'm sure the Karata owners will need to comment. I think, the wide belt primaries take over the look of the whole bike.

For a BDM, which is a mild looking production custom...the Baker SBD looks like it belongs. I think new BDMs should come with this primary system.

Also, they say wide belts are to compensate for a small pee pee...that's just what I heard.
