about this time last year i drained my tranny fluid at 2750 mi...so its been sitting a year without fluid...anything extra i should do when i fill it up?

the manual doesnt say how much or what viscosity to use either for a RSD 6 speed??? is it a baker DD6?

from what ive gathered from various posts its 20 oz of any of the following:
spectro 75w140
redline heavy shockproof

i would prefer not to order fluid and autozone carries mobil 1 75w90...can i use it or is it to thin? does it have to be the real heavy stuff to get rid of the first gear clunk?

lastly, anyone know the torque values for the fill and drain plugs? use teflon?

Your manual specifies how much oil to put in and where to drain it from. Here it is. Pg 15 also tells you that it's a Baker "Over-Drive" 6 spd transmission. The DD6's started with the 05's.

It doesn't tell you what fluid to use but the Baker site always recommended Heavy Shockproof 75-250 oil but last year they changed sponsorships and now recommend Spectro 75-140 so probably doesn't matter as long as it's a good oil. I personally use the Amsoil 75-140.

Ray, I'm getting ready to switch 100% to Amsoil - had been using Redline products before, but it's getting very hard to find up here for some reason.

Anyway, my Amsoil guy suggested their 75W-90 Severe Gear Lube for the tranny...how does that differ from what your using?

Thanks for the feedback!

It is 20 oz and pesonally I use good ole RevTech 85W140 Heavy Duty Transmission fluid. Change it out ever second oil/filter change (5000 mile) and never had a problem with the tranny going to 30k now.

For primary, same just RevTech Primary fluid and routine changes with the tranny change

Any of the Amsoil Severe Gear products will be fine and give great protection. The one Ray is using is just a little heavier and may make things a little quieter. I'm sure your supplier can get you whatever you want. A lot of the guys use the 75w-140 as well as the 75w-90:2thumbs:

What are the suggestions on washing the PINK crap out of the trans ???
If you are talking about dye residue from a colored gear lube you could try running the Amsoil Severe Gear for a few hundred miles and dump it to see if this helps. All synthetic fluids have a detergent quality to them and can clean things up a bit. If that don't help I see 2 choices.
1. If it's not hurting anything just live with it or,
2. Call the manufacturer to see if they have any recommendations.

Thanks .... was told by a HD wrench that the redline HD shock only comes out with a scraper and rags "told it sticks to everything ???

Anyone know the size of the tranny fill screw is on a right side drive? Is it Torx or Allen? I've tried every allen outside of 11/32nds which I don't have. Wanted to know before I order it as I can't find a retailer with it.

Thanks
