BDM

They can't pay their vendors - so no more parts. Hell, they can't (or won't) even pay their employees that they call in (from a layoff) to build the bikes. I know several former employees that never got paid. If they keep up this practice, there won't be anyone left that will answer the phone when BDM needs to build "another 40 or 50" bikes.

Besides, the bank has halted bike production anyway.

I'm not trying to sling mud at BDM, so don't kill the messanger.

I called the Big Dog factory in KS this morning and they told me they would not be available until the end of August. I'm looking at the wire plus.

Why do you need your dealer to get you valve box gaskets (I assume you mean Rocker boxes). They are S&S and any bike shop can order them for you, they are not BDM specific.

For the VR, get a Compu-fire and be done with it!

Thats a good point...not sure what the delay was; but venture to say it wasnt bigdog related.

giving up on BDM regulator as the forums' members suggest and looking to alternatives. I see many recommend compu-fire. I like the looks of compu-fire, but they couldnt help me with my bike when I emailed them...anyone know specificly what p/n to fit the 07 pitbull?

Thanks Eric, here is p/n for my 07 pitbull Ce-320-G (G is the connector)

I called Cycleelectric today and while they dont sell to public (dealer only) the woman helped me out. There isnt a dealer in my area, but she gave me a name/number of one of her dealers that is drop shipping the regulator to my door in 2 days...which is great.
If anyone needs the same arrangement - call:
Doug @Ingrim's Panhead Cycles; 513-524-3105. He did me a great deal and extremely nice and easy to work with. He said he also did this for another BDM just last week, same scenerio: parts on back order from supplier.

Thanks to all of you for your advice.

So we've got Wire-Plus to replace faulty EHC's....Dakota Digital to replace faulty speedometers...S&S is still around for engine parts & info...Baker's still around for tranny parts & info....
I'd say we've got the bases covered IF the 'unthinkable' happens at BDM:willy_nilly::panic2: (and I hope and pray it doesn't).

Sheldon Coleman of Coleman Camping owns big dog. They are not going to go out of business. The ehc's are back ordered until September or so because they are trying to work all of the bugs out. Big dog is not going anywhere!! And that came from the mouth of Sheldon himself!

I've heard that before and then the next day they close down. I wouldn't trust the CEO of any corporation in the US. I hope it does not happen.

Not to add to any rumors here but I can't seem to get the BDM website to come up and I tried emailing their customer service and got a reply back that the mailbox was no longer available. So, anybody got any ideas? Here is my main problem, I'm still waiting on the replacement whell for my 05 Ridgeback, dealer here, who is no longer a dealer by the way, but supposed to still be handling servicing has changed my date three times now. The latest is October 10. This is more than a year past the first date it was supposed to be here. Now the fun part, i'm deploying in September for 18 months overseas. Now i'm wondering if the company will be in business when I get back and I 'll have to worry about a whell cracking on me with no way to replace it. Any suggestions?

Sorry if I jacked the thread.

Fairless, I sure hope you're right...you probably have more inside info than us.
I know Sheldon's got deep pockets but, they're not bottomless...something's gotta give, sooner or later.
Either the economy's got to turn around (more later than sooner, unfortunately), or BDM's got to offer a new product people can afford and want to part with their hard earned cash now.

I'm just saying we should be prepared for the worst, then the worst won't happen (as the old saying goes)...like having Wire Plus, Dakota Digital, etc, as back-ups...just in case...

I can get their website and Facebook pages to come up with no problems, and just had correspondence back and forth last with a couple of their customer service guys regarding paint codes.
Try using their website "Contact" form and I bet you'll get a response...they're out there!
