I'm thinking of adding a set stainless creations pipes to my bike.. (if I can get what I want) anyway I dont want to pollish them(no heat shields) but I have found some colored pipe wrap.. but it only goos to 1200*f.. any ideas on how how hot the pipes will be the 1st foot or so out.. I plan on wraping from the head to about 1/2 the pipe length the part that turns the most.. I plan on getting the inside of the pipes ceramic coated

1200 should be way more than enough. I think most header temps are 400-500 unless you have some fuel mixture problem.

I've already got a thread on here on wrapping my Stainless Creations with the DEI pipe wrap. Can't remember what temp it is but it's the premium stuff. I just removed it and the pipe was so corroded under it that I had to take it down with 120 grit sand paper and am slowly polishing it back out.
Every set of jeans I own as well as my "expensive" leather pants are burned up from the pipes. The ceramic coating doesn't work and the wrap doesn't work for me so far. I'm looking for some of those kool shield pieces that are cut out in flames to put them on and see if they will help.

Remember my post last summer when my pant leg caught on fire!!!!

the bike runs fine,,, I just wasnt sure how hot the pipes run next tho the head.
If you're breathing on them, then they could very well exceed 1200 degrees. That's a lot of hot air I'm talkin' about.:roll:

I think I had my internal ceramic coated Martin Bros Zig Zag pipe on when I caught on fire. But it runs just as hot if you ask me meaning I don't think it's worth it to have them coated.
Someone here told me though that if you have the pipe coated internal and external it works pretty good but I'm skeptical!

The SC pipes are a pain for me to keep up due to all the rain I ride in most days. Maybe when you live you can keep them shinier but I will say that they are easy to maintain IF you keep them polished all the time.
Mine look like shit cause I don't keep up with them and it will take a lot to restore the finish.

Why hell yes!! :D But only a band-aid. I pulled the head and put in new valve guides but I'm still running the TP rocker boxes. I'm sure they are the culprit to the valve breaking early on and then the excessive wearing of the valve guides. I just can't afford $1K for the S&S rocker boxes/roller rockers right now. But I'm riding!!!!!!!!:whoop::cheers: Hopefully, I'll get caught up and get some S&S RB's this winter. You have a great 4th of July weekend and I'll shout at you guys next week. I'm outa here!!!
