I think it has happened.
I have spent a ton on my 04 chopper in the last year. I have had it exactly one year today. Went out to start it. Took it off the tender, showing full charge. New HD battery only a couple of months old.
turn on the switch.. turn signals flash twice. Thats it.
No nothing.
It acts as if it is a dead battery, but I know it is not. I dont know much about these bikes, besides I really love mine. I have heard all sorts of stories about the ehc going out and guys removing them.
I am a little short on cash, so I don't want to throwing stuff at it that I dont need.... I know the ehc will eventually need to be replaced as it seems they all do.
Any thoughts?
This thing really has me confused.

Btw.... last time I rode it, last week, it didnt want to seem to start.
Turned over fine, just didnt want to fire.

it does sound like a low battery.... get it load checked.. then if it checks out or find its good... you need to check to see that the charging system is putting out properly.... while its running..

Recommend ensuring your cables to/from the batt are tight (10 mm) and then check the lines to the starter as well.

Thanks for the advice guys.
I believe I have found the problem.... I will make it short.

on March 23 of this year, I installed a new HD AH battery.
My other battery was getting weak, and I decided to go all out since I had great luck with the motor company's battery before.

Well, now its 3 months later and the battery is shot. I believe it has an internal short in it.
I put the old battery on charge for an hour and switched them out....
bingo... the bike fired right up like its supposed to.
Man, this thing is causing me to pull my hair out.... if I had any.

I appreciate the quick responses.

Take it back to the HD dealer. Batteries on new bikes are warrantied for one year. Batteries sold over the shelf are warranties for 6 months then they are (whats the word?) they figure out the value to 12 months.

My last battery that I just replaced only lasted 10 months. New battery and the bike started right up!

Could be and that was the word I was looking for. :D The prorate policy is stated right on the side of the battery.

Took it back to the dealer this morning... naturally they didn't have another, but they got me one in this evening. No charge, just 2 trips.
It had an internal short.
Onward and upward!
:D
