how do i check the oil level in my bike ...... ? i opened the cap but i dont see any line or anything??
It's in your owners manual NOLA, if you don't have one email me and I'll send you a .pdf copy of it. Checking the level is different with each model and year.

I had an '05 Chopper. You could "eyeball check it" per the Owner's Manual, or they offered an accessory dipstick you could buy (which I did...my eyeballs aren't that great, and I didn't want to chance it!). I 'assume' this accessory dipstick would work on a Ridgeback, but I'm not sure.

Check with your dealer to see if they still offer those dipsticks for sale and if it works on your model.

If so (but he doesn't have one), check around with other dealers...somebody's got one hanging on their accessory wall somewhere I'm sure.

I was glad to see Big Dog finally got smart and included a dipstick on my '09 K9.

I would have to disagree!!! First off, that's not an accurrate picture of my '05 pitbull;s oil tank. The stem from the tank comes up about 5". The oil should be level with the bottom of the tube (where the tube meets the main tank) when the bike is level. Do not fill it to bottom of the threads!!!!:spank::bang::rant:

The description of the proper fill level in the diagram is correct. Fill to the bottom of the fill neck. The threads would be located in the top of the fill neck.

I'm assuming that the ridgeback and pitbull have the same tanks. If not, then disregard everything you just read! :job:

Ray,

I have a 2004 Mastiff. Would you please send me a copy of the Owner's Manual.

I'd appreciate it, Thanks.

I check my 05 Chopper on the side stand as stated in the service manual above and to see inside the tube I have a small LED flash light I bought at Advance Auto Parts and it easily fits in my tool roll. I check the oil level after each ride...just sayin

The manual says "only premium 20w50 v-twin detergent motorcycle oil". My 07 manual says the same thing--no mention of synthetics???
