Electrical concerns

I purchased a 2005 Chopper and have started noticing electrical issues. I started noticing that the tachometer would stop working from time to time and now has stopped working completely. One week ago, the speedometer froze at 30mph, mileage display went blank, but the headlight continued to burn. Eventually, the speedo started working again but now when I turn on the ignition, the speedo sweeps from 0mph down past 0mph then back up to 20mph and back to 0mph. The tach still does not work, but all the lights work fine. I am interested in the Wire-Plus system. Does anyone know an installer in North Carolina?

Type your problem in the search section and there will be many threads to look at and review. Good luck!

The Wire-Plus from what I have seen and heard is a do-it-yourself. I will when or if my ehc gives up on me. I'm sure some of the guys on here will chime in that have made the switch and can give some good advise.

My 05 ridgeback did that while still under warranty. It took a new speedo. Truth be told it got wet. They are sensitive to moisture. I have a box of rubber gloves that use over the speedo, and grips while wet washing.

Usually this means that the unit has gone bad. Corrosion and such can do this over time. But you may also find that you have a ground wire busted, this can cause the occasional starting and stopping of the unit.

As said above, very likely corrision at the bottom of the tack board and or broken wire there also. You can check the connectors on the back bone under the tank. Also another suggestion is to clean the crank sensor and the speedo sensor. This doesn't sound like the EHC to me but it could be. I have an 05 chopper myself and I am changing over to the WirePlus this winter just for the peace of mind.
