Bandit be warned if you get a Scorpio, you have just 14 days from purchase to test it and see if you like it. If it is past the short 14 days they will not return your money.

Attached is my experience, I could steal my seat without getting the alarm. Alot of people didn't read the thread closley, it was not a sensativitiy adjustment issue, it was a programmed timing issue that cannot be changed.

IN MY OPINION IT WAS A WASTE OF MONEY! below is the details of my experience with Scorpio.

I was told by BDM that they wouldn't recommend a alarm because of the EHC. That it would cause problems.

I was told by Big Dog years ago that hooking up any alarm to the bike is fine, as long as you just go straight to the battery, and not tap into the other wires for the ignition stuff.

That said, I removed my Scorpio alarm after a few months as I found it to be a total waste of money! I'd park the bike, arm it, then walk across the parking lot and upstairs to my office, only to find that the damn remote gizmo had already lost the ability to communicate with the bike. Rerouting the antenna to the stupid thing so it was more exposed did nothing.

Perhaps they've improved it since then though, as that was about 5 years ago. I guess you can always buy one, then be sure to test it thoroughly in the 14 day "trial period".

Good luck.

They have improved. I can be in a bar over 200 yards away from my dog and my remote works great. An alarm will not screw up your ECH if you follow Gas Man's instructions. I have had mine on since the first week I owned the Dog and have never had a problem. My perimeter sensor also warns as soon as someone is within a few feet. Not getting my seat without me knowing about it.

Bandit, if you still want one I would recommend buying from Scorpio's page.

Same here Jeff they advertise that is was good up to a 1/2 mile away. Mine worked intermittantly less than 200' away from my office to the parking lot. My biggest beef was that I could quickly pluck my seat off, then step away real fast and the proximitey sensor would just have time to beep a few times, then reset, never sending an alarm to the keyfob. Even their damn techs seemed to not understand that it is the preprogrammed timing to avoid too many false alarms, not a sensitivity setting that was adjustable. I test military security systems for a living and in my professional security system background opinion, their product SUCKS. And not being able to return it after only 14 days double SUCKS.

And Mike sorry I have to disagree, your proximity sensor will first produce an audible beep at the motorcycle warning the intruder that he is too close, if he does not step back after 3 seconds the system will notify you with an alarm to your keyfob. I can snatch the seat off a BigDog and step back in under three seconds. I CAN STEAL YOUR SEAT WITH A SCORPIO ALARM. I get paid to try to defeat systems way more sophisticated than Scorpio's.

Oh but on a happy note I did finally sell the thing and at least recovered half my wasted money!!

Not with the plastic coated wire that I attached!!!!!! Used a replacement tailgate limiting strap, plus I adjusted the front bracket on the seat so it requires effort to remove it.

Yeah Mike, Gasman's $3 compliment to their $400 alarm system, a teather (he used a battery cable). Right on Ok so you are correct I could not steal your seat! I stand corrected!

If someone wants it bad enough, they'll take it......spend your money on some good insurance.
True, but the key fob going off gives me time to get to the bike before they push it a few feet. They aren't starting it with the ignition kill I put on there. When 5 guys are running at them, I'm sure they will run the other way.

Wow, you guys got me thinking now. I was going to order one today but now i think i will look around are there other options anyone recommends? I am in fl. and always have a persuader with me. just wanted a little more piece of mind.
