Has anybody had peg vibration ??

I have an 04 Chopper and have experienced the same vibration on right peg. I have dual carbs that stick out and makes it hard to use full width of peg which makes it a little worse. I have also checked for loose mounts or anything else that would contribute to the problem. Bike has polished pegs . I was wondering if pegs with rubber inserts would help any for added grip? Small problem but still noticeable after have only owned rubber mounted Dyna bikes.

Yea, good reminder to all, to check the motor mounts often. Cleaned the bike Monday and I know the top mount bolt was in. Took a 100 mile run on Wednesday. When I got home, notice the top mount bolt was gone.

It's really not good enough to simply check it the motor mounts and peg mounts are "tight". You need to get out the torque wrench and check for proper torque figures. The motor mounts may seem tight, but if they don't have the proper torque (35 lbs for cylinders and 85 lbs for center frame) it will vibrate more than normal. I believe the torque for the peg mounts are 25 lbs. I replaced my cylinder mounts bolts with longer ones, apply red lock-tite and torque to 40 lbs. I have an 05 chopper DT, but I think your torque values are the same.

this vibration is why i have never changed my pegs, logically it makes sense to have a little rubber somewhere since it isnt included in the motor mounts....the vibration takes a little getting used to and you find the right bit of RPMs to run where it is most comfortable and manageable....for me the rubber on the pegs might not be the most blingy way to go but it helps keep my feet on the pegs

That's a common issue with our dogs. You may want to try using a nylon threaded nut on that top bolt to keep from losing it.

Where did you get them.

Shovelcowboy,
What brand are the pegs you used? Where did you get them?
Thanks

I have the same problem with the right foot but I think mine is due to my air cleaner bumping up against my right leg. Its a Roland sands round air cleaner. I know it doesnt help at all.

My whole bike shakes but I expect it too...I have had my right foot vibrate until it fell off the peg once going down the interstate. That will get your attention. I tighten everything up pretty regular too or the ole lady will have to pick it up on here morning walks. Mirrors are worthless going down the road from the vibration but they pick up flashing lights just fine...:D

I totally agree about the mirrors!

I had a vibration in my bike running dyna beads in both tires changed front tire with dyna beads no more vibration in my pegs. Tire must have had a flat spot in it.

same problem RJ, started when I changed pegs to tribal style with know rubber on them.If I where soft rubber soles I can keep my foot on the peg. only on the right side, and every mount is tight. left side no problem. just my 02 cents

my right peg vibrates enough to move my foot off the peg sometimes, and the motor mount is tight. i have found that my foot moves a lot more if there is oil/debris on the bottom of my boot. when you put your foot down at a traffic light, toll booth, parking lot, etc., you tend to get crap on your shoes. when that is the situation, it doesn't take much vibration to move your foot.
Hey Pop's check your plug gap!!!!:2thumbs:

I have noticed more vibration on the 107 engines than the 117's on every big dog I have ridden that has come through my shop. Never seems to hurt anything after a bit of thread locker though ;) The 107's also seem to be damn near bullet proof for some reason, and really seem to last while making good power.

As an update to my answer from way back when, last summer my trans went up and when I went to dissassemble trans from bike to send it out I found only 2 bolts holding trans to frame, both loose ,all this time of more than average vibration was finally solved.....

As BBChopper suggested I checked my plug gaps. Actually I bought new plugs and gapped them to specs. (.040) it ran like a different bike! as smooth as... well as smooth as these things can be.
