Ok I just got my new 2008 mutt with only 39 miles on it.
Now I am broke....
This factory exhaust sounds like a bunny farting.

I disassembled the slip on and took out all the mat packing, I also took off the end closed trap plate.
It sounds much better, well for free anyway.
Are there any tricks I am missing that you guys do with these stock pipes to make them sound better?

I am aware I will lose some low end, I just don't want to ride a bike that quiet.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Did you punch out the four caps inside the pipes. Two pipes in the muffler, two caps in each.
I see you are in PA and bought the bike out of state. Did you get the MSO right away in order to register it or are you still waiting on it? I'm assuming the bike is brand new and never titled.

I agree with PA just pop out the caps in the center of the pipes....

Pa chopper. The bike was titled in wi 3-22-10
the guy bought it at auction from dealer that went under. He bought it to flip.
He still has one.
I just had to transfer the title here.

I did not knock the plugs out. I will take it apart again and look.
Will this cause much loss of power? Or a lean pop?
Thanks
sorry for typos replying on phone.

Reason I'm asking is I bought my K-9 from TN and I'm still waiting on the MSO. It was never titled before so the MSO is what I need and I'm told the bank is dragging their feet. It's been over two months now.

I knocked out the plugs on the stock exhaust that I had on a Mastiff. Made it sound a lot better. I did up the jets to a .031 Intermediate and a .076 Main if I remember right. I ran good with no popping. Didn't notice a loss of power either. Do it....cheap mod that makes a difference. :2thumbs:

I saw that bike on Ebay just after I bought mine. I bought a set of pipes from the guy from the other bike. Did you pull the inside perforated pipe? There are a couple of cones inside that you can remove. I removed mine and am in the process of retuning and doing a different type of packing just to tone it down a little and see if I can get some of the decel popping to go away. The popping is not too bad, but I am just playing around with different setting on the carb. I also installed a S&S hi flow air filter.
