Count me in .. I keep mine in leather bag and its a pain to get it out. Would have been nice if this had been integrated into the front brake. Oh well, something to spend some more $$ on. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
Same here thats why I came up with the holder. Frees up space in my bag and makes the lock easier to take off and put on.

I don't figure the disk lock for any real protection. It basically keeps people from walking away with your bike. If someone wants it bad enough they will take it. Thats what insurance is for. I would prefer that the factory just incorporated a fork lock like my Honda Transalp. Same key as the ignition and locks the forks to one side. Serves the same purpose as the disk lock ( keeps someone from just pushing your bike away) but thats about it! But thats enough for me while bar hopping or stopping at the store and running in for something.

I also run a cable through my disk lock to deterr anyone trying to walk off with my $20. helmet or sometimes $40. bag with $40. chaps and $25. gloves.

Cheap shit that I want to be there when I go home - I frequent Detroit... would rather them need cutters before they walk away...

Although I heard of a seat walking away from a concert

I think an alarm may be in order for me... as an addition

I was with Nelson... disc locks are no better than an alarm... other than my alarm keeps you at arms length or its going off. And I'm also with you on the Glock Nelson... got one for christmas... got to take my CCW class this winter...

But yes Ray... chaining them together would be the best. But damn... who's takin the chain!

I guess at the next Michigan event we'll have Mud wear it as a necklace... how many feet of chain will we need to chain together 10-12 bikes? I'm betting mud better work on his trap muscles!!

I have been installing alarm systems for myself for 8 years and for car audio shops for 7 years. On a Big Dog all you have to do is go up to the bike real quick like and take a heavy pair of side cutters and cut the negative cable going from the primary to the battery and roll the bike into the trailer! the longest the alarm will go off is about 5 seconds and if it has a warn away feature the cable will be cut before the alarm goes into full cycle. That is why I never bough an alarm for my bike.
Better put some good braiding on them battery cables if you have an alarm on it. :)
Sorry guys?

Gas, I carry a heavy cable with a large lock on it most everywhere I go. I know Raywood carries this big ass chain with him. I also put the disc lock on as a visual deterrent.
If it looks like a hassle to steal, a theif will look elsewhere.

House has a good point... same reason why I don't post how to hook up the starter kill in open forum. Not a good idea to start blabbin at the mount talking about all easy things are to steal.

But to debate the issue... first off the perimeter would go off without even touching the bike, then the shock would go off to touching the seat, then the battery cut alarm. And my alarm has a battery back up that will sound for a decent amount of time. But the BIGGEST thing... is the PAGER. Something I have yet to bring up. Your disc lock don't do this.

YOu F with or even get to close to the bike... my pager goes off, and now me and the boys are coming out to see WTF is up. Maybe packin heat or just big dudes... who knows....

And the idea here is to make your bike less disireable over the next one. Theives are lazy and they will admit that... they want the easy mark. However, a pro thief that wants your bike will go to great lengths. And nothing you do will stop it. I have even heard of back in the day of car alarms and crap... using freon to freeze the alarm sirens under cars, painting the tails/turns and then going to town... no noise and no flashy...

Again... THEFT DETERANT not NO THEFT GAURENTEE!

I really wonder about alarms with all the electronic problems with these bikes.

Gas, where did you get your alarm? How much? Did you install or have someone else do it?

Thanks.
Got off a website before we knew Vickie. And its a simple simple install. And to re-assure Kick and you... Other than my full proof anti-starting kill & tail light flashing, there is no other connection to the BDM wiring. So you could, not have the lights flash and not have a starter kill and there would be no direct wiring to the bike's electronics. You would still have perimter, shock, tilt, ignition, and battery alarms. But I have had mine on for 2 years and no problems.
