Bigdog Rear Tire 300MM Replacement

Energy One

Another round please
I've replaced 2, had them done at a shop close to $500 ea.
Ouch. That is insane. It goes to show that we spend whatever it takes on our beloved bikes. Sometimes I look back and say "what the fuck am I doing spending all this on a bike". I do it anyway.

I get the rear tire in 1 to 2 days for about 275 bucks with free shipping. Takes about 1 to 1-1/2 hours, depending on how much I'm drinking, to do the change out. Ray showed me a link, can't remember it now, that provides a different method than tire irons which I am going to try next time. If it works then the change will become even easier. Of course if you don't have the tools or mechanical ability then stick with the shop but man what a bill for one tire.
The added benni of doing it yourself is you get to check everything out i.e. bearings e.t.c and the wheel is really easy to polish and clean up off the bike without the tire on it. Of course that adds some time to the change but oh well.

I'm not going to cut it off the wheel just cutting the tire in two around the diameter. I have a tire machine but with the low profile tires they don't have any give in the side wall and by cutting it in half it won't fight me.

$500+ for the 300 rear. Ouch!!! Have went through 4 or 5 of them now. Sucks! (Especially when within 800 miles on the last one, I picked up a screw! Plugged it instead of replacing it. Milking it for all it's worth!!! :2thumbs:)
