FWIW,
I remove heads, and cylinders on a lot of motors yearly. The erosion I see, from water settling in the stud to case area,(acid created by water, and dissimilar metals)would make you think twice about putting your bike away wet.
After washing, warm the engine up enough,to boil out the trapped moisture.Engine is always hot when riding in the rain,so the above is not as much of a factor.

I never wash my bike with a hose. There's way to many nooks and crannies for the water to hide. :bang::bang::bang:

I don't wash mine, I use meguiars final inspection spray on a diaper and follow with microfiber. That is a great tip however John:2thumbs:

Damn, I can sure see that not too many of you have been to rallys like Sturgis (and camping at the Chip, Hog Heaven, or Glencoe) where if you go out partying at night, you ARE some nights going to be riding home in the MUD to get to your camp (It WILL rain on you in Sturgis, Right Ray?) !

And you damn sure are NOT going to get all the mud off with a "damp rag"! You will be hosing off the bike!

Bikes were made to use hard, Not just polish and ride on a sunny day!

My 2 cents,

Shovelcowboy:cheers:

Washed the dog once after getting caught in the rain and no I wasn't riding with knotso

Usually I'll take 10 - 15 mins after the bike cools down and wipe it down with a soft rag sprayed with quick detailer......
