battery rubbing

i took my seat off on my 04 mastiff a seen the terminals have rubbed throuth the carpet or pad on the seat pan the pan is fiberglass so it not shorting out i checked under the battery and the pad is gone is this a problem

It may, some fiber-glasses are somewhat conductive.
Let's just say, "any" pressure on battery terminals not a good thing! :down:

But I'm "assuming", which is the mother of all F U's, that he has installed a taller battery.

yup!my hd battery is lower,the strap isnt tight

should be fairly easy to make a new strap from a bungee cord.

i'd find myself a lower battery...can't be good putting pressure on the battery terminals. im sure it'd make a nice mess if you broke a terminal off.

iv had the bike for 4 years and the battery is the one thing i havent hade to replace had all the same problems as most on here

As far as batteries go in relationship with BDMs, "Bigger is BETTER"! :2thumbs:

If the battery is even touching the seat pan I'd say then someone before you installed the wrong height battery.

I remember at one time a few here were inverting the battery tray to gain extra clearance. You might want to look into that modification. :2thumbs:

I had the same problem, if I sat on the dog it would not start and the Neg Cable would get real hot. If I took the seat off it would fire up. What I did was peel the carpet pad off and glued a 1/8 rubber pad to the seat bottom and then I sprayed some 3-M glue and put the carpet pad back on. I also changed the terminal from top mount to side mount. So far so good.
