Vance & Hines Big Radius Question....

I have an '04 Bulldog Mike and i was also researching the V&H Big Radius. I ended up going with the V&H Short Shots for a softail, which had to be altered to fit. If I remember correctly you will have to alter the bracket for the Big Radius to fit as they are made to fit an "05 Bulldog. I also had to re-jet to 31/76 after being on the dyno. Still have a small amount of decel popping, but not much. Good luck

Thanks guys! thanks Doggone, I might hit you up. And Dizl, do you have a pic of your short shots?? How much modifications did you have to do for them?? Where is the best place to purchase the pipes, and is it the same place for jets? Also, do the new pipes come with exhaust gaskets/donuts, or whatever the hell they are. LOL I am good with cars, but bikes are a little different.

Ok, on the Vance & Hines Big radius 2 into 2, they seem to only make them for 05 and up Bulldogs. What is the difference? Should I order the ones for the 05 for my 04? What modifications will i have to do to make them work? I really want to get these ordered.

Do your homework start shopping..However you may be limited due to the year of your bike.
I would call V&H Tech support they could answer that question and should be able to give you a part number.
Again talk to tech support...

Yeah, the funny thing is I called Vance & Hines, and they said to call Bigdog, Bigdog said to call Vance & Hines! LOL I guess I am limited with it being an 04. It kind of makes you feel like the 04's aren't good. But I love my bike either way. I spoke with tech at Dennis Kirk, and he said the would work (vance & Hines part # 4401505) He said what BigDizl had told me -(I would just need to alter my bracket slightly) He also said they would clear the rear peg. Hopefully he is right, because the old lady likes to cruise once in a while and i like to take my girls around the neighborhood. Supposedly Basani has a decent slash cut pipe that will work also. One Last question guys. I am going to order the pipes, what else do i need to order? I know I need the o2 sensor block plugs. Do I need gaskets, etc. What size jets do i need to purchase?? I want to buy everything at once. So any help on what I need would be appreciated. Hate to put the pipes on, and then it runs like shit and I need to by jets and wait on riding. LOL Thanks

Hey guys, one last questions. I just got my pipes and Big City Thunder Baffles (originals) I found a great tech article in here on install, but one question I have is, I need to drill a hole for the new baffles to secure them ( cant use the same hole as the original baffles due to the Big city baffles need to go deeper) as far as the hole where the original baffle screw was (do I need to worry about that?? Should I just put the screw back in it?? Or do I not need to worry about that hole?

Funny, I just went through the same thing. In looking at the bracket and bracket location on the 2005 Bull Dog it is definitely different than the 2004. I have yet to get a definitive answer regarding fit. I cam alter the bracket but want to make sure they will clear everything else.
If you are able to get them on your 2004 Bull Dog I would love to know how it goes.

Hey Bulldog04, I ordered the pipes from Dennis Kirk. Those fuckers are ridiculous to make fit. The bracket is way off, it looks like instead of fabricating you need to fab a complete new bracket. And I don't know about you, but I am only 5 ft 7, so the rear pipe (rear jug), stuck out way to far, and I would scorch the fuck out of my rear leg. if I gotta ride like that man, I won't enjoy it. I even ordered the big city thunder baffles. Now i can't return them. But i am hoping that there is a chance they will work with my next set of pipes. The rear swingarm is totally different on the 04 then the 05. So it leaves us bulldog owners with the 04's little options other than major fabricating. Everyone on here is real helpful, and are eager to help, so you are in the right place. I like some sick pipes out there such as the Santee LAF's, but they are real short, and you cannot install baffles in them. So unless you can take it somewhere and have the bike tuned properly, or have a built bike, you will lose back pressure, power, etc. Unfortunately my wallet is not big enough to where I can afford to take it to the dealer for tuning, etc. So I have to do shit myself. Also another thing to beware of (at least this is important to me) is be careful that whatever pipe you get doesn't block the rear pasenger foot peg. I do take the old lady out on the dog once in a while. LOL Anyway, I sent the Big radius's back to Dennis Kirk, no questions asked. I found a set of (discontinued) Hooker Widetail pipes. I think they look pretty cool. They were around $524 shipped total from Dennis kirk. I think I got the last set from Dennis Kirk. They are Holley part # 279023SWRHKR I think J & P cycles has a couple left also. Check them out. I think they are about $485 from j&P. But I really like the return policy from dennis kirk. Although it might be just as good from J&P, I am not sure. The Hookers are designed for a Bigdog Chopper, rigid, softail, 250 rear tire, right side drive, Baker 6 speed. I should have them Wednesday. It looks like they are pretty much a direct bolt on. Maybe slight mods. Check it out. I hope I can use my Baffles. I hope I was some help Brian. If I can help you anymore, let me know. Later Bro!

They come with a bracket that bolts to the tranny so the frame is not an issue. They also come with the baffles and heat shields and I do not think they will block the rear pegs. The Martin Brothers Trixtas look pretty cool as well but have not been able to check them out in person.

there are footpeg relocation adapters available that will raise the pegs about an inch to inch 1/2 to clear the pipes for a rear seat passanger........I have them on my '04 TX Chopper.

Hey Brian, yes, the martin bros are cool also. I have looked at them. I am just at the point where if it doesn't say it is for a Bigdog, there is some major prob with install LOL
I am already pissed that I have tied the bike up for over a week without being able to ride (without putting my shit ass old pipes on) LOL But like i said, the martins are really nice. And thanks orangeskullz for the foot peg info. I didn't know that.

Hey Bulldog, sounds good man. Let me know how you make out. I will have my Hooker Widetails tomorrow. Hopefully I won't have an issue putting them on. I won't get to fuck with them until Monday. You had better luck then I did with Vance & Hines. I couldn't get any useful help. I don't remember if I got the Vance & Hines for a Softail or an 05 Bulldog. The Vance & Hines pipes I ordered were (dennis Kirk part # 4401505) if you go to there site, you can look them up. And they were way off. Hope this helps.
