I was wondering how many people have ever been down on their bike? I'm not talking about going down on a dirt bike, I'm talking about going down on a road bike? Hit a dog, car pulled out in front of you, too hot in a turn. I was about 16. (56 now) and was following a simi, at about 25MPH a car turned in front of me and I hit it head on, throwing me over the handle bars and on to the hood of the car. Luckly I didn't get hurt. I have also hit 3 dogs crashing on 2. (not hurt)

May 21 st, last year I was rear ended, by an idiot, at 60+ MPH, I was on my 08 Raider, I heard him coming before I seen him, I turned hard to the right and he caught my left hand grip with his front fender, and I took his right side mirror off with my shoulder, spun the bike in the middle of the road and like to got hit by the truck behind him, this was a hit and run, the other guy in the truck chased him down while on the phone with the cops and they caught him about 6 miles up the road, the SOB had got out of jail at 10 a.m. and was back in by 2 p.m., 3500.00 damage to the bike a little road rash , and a sore shoulder for a while, but he had no insurance......so I was out alot but, he is going to prison for a pretty long while.....but at the end of the day, it was not that bad, 2 inches to the left and I would not be here to tell this story....

I hit a deer with the K9 about 2 years ago. I still feel that one. Broken collarbone, messed up foot and a bunch of cosmetic damage to the bike. It could have been a lot worse. I feel lucky.

!

3 1/2 years ago, I hit an 8 point buck on my v-rod going 60mph - bike was a total loss, $15,500. No broken bones, stitches and a couple of punctures that had to be irrigated. The worst of it was the various sprains and strains that hampered me for a month or more. My hospital bill was $7,200 and I didn't even stay the night.

Guy pulled right out in front of me and stopped dead. I stuff my CBR1000 under the front of his car at about 35 mph. I was fine, bike had about $3000 in damage, about $100 from a total loss job. I rode the bike home 35 miles with bent forks and all.

He already did. I crashed my 03 Chopper into the back of a Toyota Tacoma. He slammed on the brakes for a yellow light and I couldn't stop on the greasy road. Broke my right thumb, sprained my left wrist, conked my head. Poked a hole in my leg. I walked out of he hospital with casts on both arms. I couldn't wipe my own ass for about 3-4 days until they realized the left arm was just a sprain. It took 6 months for the shop to fix the piece of shit. It was perfect but I was done with that bike. I really felt the skinny front tire compromised my chance at stopping that night and went to a mastiff.

After 45+ years of riding, only one accident I couldn't avoid. Was rather minor but still $4500 damage on a new touring bike back in 1987.

I can only thank my younger years of motorcycle racing and defensive practices for saving my ass all these years.

Hit a cow in 1974 on a Honda CBR750, put the cow over the bike somehow(according to the farmer chasing it-I ducked to the tank and missed to show). Major bike damage but not a scratch.
Low side on a snake in the road while hitting a hard right curve. Minor scratches on bike, major rips in me with multiple stiches from a barbed wire fence on the other side of the road that tore through my jacket and pants. Also before the age of 20.
Smooth sailing until 2008(age 53) when I hit a bunch of loose gravel in a hard right hand curve on my GSXR-1000. Only minor damage to bike(plastic and brake petal). Again, not a scratch thanks to good gear.
Still, would not trade riding for nothing. Been on a bike most of my life and the worse accidents I have had have been me in my vehicle minding my own business when daydreaming idiots plow into me(twice). My neck reminds me every day!
