So we can keep track of where we are...

Coil values as measured with coil wires disconnected-
1. primary (between red and yellow, should be ~3 ohms, meter on "200" ohms) = 3.3
2. secondary (between spark plug wire holes, should be 13K to 14K ohms, meter on "20K" ohms) = 11.63

Cam sensor values as measured on the pigtail going to the sensor (you can just set your meter on the "2M" ohms scale for all of these) -
1. From each wire on the pigtail to the backing plate (black lead on plate, should be "open") = meter doesn't change
2. With red lead on green wire and black lead on black wire (should be "open") = meter doesn't change
3. With black lead on green wire and red lead on black wire (should be 300K to 750K ohms) = meter doesn't change

Just "quote" this post and put in the numbers that you get...

PS Just remember, with your meter turned "on" an "open" looks just like what you get on any ohms scale (the range from about 10 to 1 o'clock) with the leads not touching anything. Make sense?

Did you happen to snap a pic of any these readings? I ask because according to what your numbers say the coil is fine but the cam sensor is bad. The secondary resistance of the coil being 11.63K ohms is not a problem, the numbers I gave you are not absolute. Maybe mobsta could unplug his spark plugs and let you know what his coil measures?

But, the sensor value you got in step #3 is potentially a problem. What happened to the 674 you were getting before? You may want to try that part of the test with a lower range like "200K", "20K", or even the "2K". You could touch the wires with the meter leads and switch ranges "on the fly" to see what you get.

And here's another thought for you...

Going to the ignition module is 4 pin connector. If you disconnect it, turn the bike "on" (making sure none of the wires you already disconnected are touching each other) is there 12V as measured from a ground to the red wire of the bike side of that connector using the "20V" scale (about 2 o'clock on your meter)? That would tell you whether you have power going to the ignition module from the EHC.

off The 4 Pin Red with ign. on (AND the Run button pushed) i get 12.2V reading
Step 3 i have no clue but my meter does not change only on the 20m setting it will quickly climb in value and go right back to 1 as it is when turned on. It stays on 1 through all the K's 2,20&200. Which is the same as when i turn the unit on it says 1 till i get a reading. so my guess is i have no signal.
coil is up to 11.8 on 200k reading seams the longer it sits inside the higher it gets lol

If your meter gives you a "1" on this step no matter what range you're on, I'd say your cam sensor has got a problem with its output! :down:

Keep in mind there's no guarantee that the ignition module doesn't also have a problem but I think I'd go with the sensor first rather spend money that you may not have to...

I think you can get one through Harley but I'm not sure. I run a Dyna ignition on the Harley and my Big Dog has a crank sensor.

You could try starting another thread to ask everyone where you can get a sensor or do some searching because I know this issue has come up before.

This is an awesome site. I'm haveing the same problem with my 04 Mastiff and was't sure on how to check the cam sensor, logged right on, did a quick search and BAM, all the answers i was looking for, you guys rock. :2thumbs:
