Am I losing my mind at 47..... The battery on the Pitbull is reading 20-21 VDC without being on a tender and without the ignition on....WTF???? Could this be the battery having an internal short circuit?

200 VAC Sure, but 200 VDC? Never heard of that. After 30 years, I did that first thing. On the 20 V setting it blanks it due to over voltage, on 200 VDC it reads around 21 VDC...???
Well there are applications where large voltages are provided DC vs. AC200 VAC Sure, but 200 VDC? Never heard of that.
Is the battery in your meter good?
Sounds like somethings wrong with the meter, try another meter. 200 volts dc would blow everything up on your bike.
Not to argue,You are correct G Dog. My meter has a 20 a 200 and 500 VDC setting. What is your reading from the pos terminal to ground?
This is true. I thought he was saying that his meter was set to the 200 vdc setting and that he was reading like 21 vdc. My bad.Not to argue,
One of my meters goes from 2 VDC to 2000 VDC, but that's not the point here. A 12 VDC battery "CANNOT" produce 200 VDC unless it being multiplied through a x-former.
Something else is wrong here.
You are exactly right!!! Without a step up transformer, this could not occur! Not to argue,

You are also correct in your troubleshooting steps. I looked at the meter again and see a low battery indicator. At the same time I found my good meter and the voltage is right at 14 VDC.
The news gets better, check my other thread on the headlight problem.

2000VDC. I've worked on that stuff! Not to argue,
