Magnets huh? I hadn't thought of that. I like the idea of being able to remove the sticker easily. I think I'll try tat one first and see how it works out. Thanks again for the feedback.
When I was still stationed in Key West, the policy changed and thebase police would put the stickers on. I asked why I couldn't just have the stickers and do it later and they said too many people would get stickers and put them on rental cars. I know for a fact it's DoD policy to have them "stuck" to the vehicle. Some places are just more relaxed, or don't realize, if they are not permanently attached.

Well,
not to drift off the real topic but last year, I had the windshield replaced on the wife's Suburban. Didn't bring the vehicle in but brought the old stickers and the rcpt from the windshield shop.

NO JOY!! "We must have the vehicle here."
Drove home, got the sub and went back (had to wait in line each time too!!!) young Marine came out to the sub and put the sticker on for me.

Last month, I purchased a new car and brought it in to get a new sticker. Gal behind the counter checked all the paperwork and handed me the stickers. I said, "hey, last time you wouldn't give me the sticker and I had to drive all the way back home because the vehicle wasn't here???"

She said "yeah, that was a dumb rule so we changed it."

Back on topic....
Stickers must be permanently affixed to vehicle. I know guys who use magnets and others have the stickers stuck to cardboard/metal and in a plastic baggies but they get hassled all the time by the gate guards.

...and here I thought you were gonna tell us that next time you brought the new windshield in, before it was installed in the vehicle. :D

That wouldn't fly either since it's got to be 'permanently affixed to vehicle!"

And this is why your glorious, cost-effective United States Air Force has done away with the stickers . With 100% ID checks they figured there's no point and we save more than 150,000.00 a year!

And if I know the AirForce, you sunk that money into laptop computers for all the troops in the barracks and valet service at the club!

We use RFID Tags that automatically raise the gates. The guards only job is to make sure we have the sticker posted when we drive by. Don't tell me you AF guys don't have those yet.

i agree but there are still lots of places that MAKE you get a sticker. i was in san diego this past weekend (coronado naval base) and couldn't ride because they have some BS rule that you have to have a permanently mounted sticker...and they don't issue temporary passes for bikes like they do for vehicles. i think it was because i'm an army guy and they just didn't want me riding.....
