so i got the bike with the speedo not working. previous owner said he shorted out his old computer and had it replaced.
i was told that since then the speedo seemed to be about 20mp off at hwy speeds.
i have the calibration directions and tried twice and both times got an 'Err' i thought i read somewhere where you can just punch the correct pulse number in there.
any thoughts?
i thought maybe it was set to kph but there is no dot and i switch that back and forth.

i did. saw some on the process...which i have. just not what to do about all the error messages or puttin number in manually. but ill keep looking.
You can't put the numbers in manually. I would pull the speedo apart and verify if the three wires are still attached to the processor board. Vibration caused these to break loose and as a fix BDM replace the mount with a wider version to help absorb vibrations. Calibration is different with various models released so far. So your "err" maybe due to following the wrong calibration procedure.
Contact Autometer with your speedo serial number and they'll tell you the proper way to do it.
But I would still verify I don't have a broken wire or even a grounded wire under the tank first.
