Anyone got a helmet lock?

Has anyone installed a helmet lock on their bikes? My helmet right now is an el-cheapo Outlaw but I really like the look of those Carbon Fiber helmets and I'll be damned if I'm going to let someone steal a $150 helmet.

Any ideas? Bike is a K9.

They had a Poll going and the majority that have responded are wearin Beanie's. I have a Chrome one that has a small visor. It's inexpensive enough that I don't need a helmet lock. So to answer your question, No, I don't have one and I guess at the cost of my helmet ($59), I don't need it. But hey, to each their own.

I'll look through my tool box and see if I can find my old one. If I can find it I'll send it to you for free. I'm working today and I'll look tonight when I get home. It will be a Harley Davidson helmet lock but should fit the big dog. I believe it fits either 1 1/4" tubes.

I have several 300 dollar helmets, I would never leave my helmet with my bike. I know people do but I would hate to loose one.

I installed a Scorpio 900 alarm on my bike which has a perimeter sensor. You can set the distance sensitivity. I put my helmet on the ground between the forks and the front of the frame. If anyone comes near my bike it sets of my remote notifying me in which me and my Glock answer!!! Great alarm. Don't install the ignition cut off. It will short your ECM out.

LOL, I don't think it's a dumb idea...
Will it cramp the style of the bike? Well, of course, but I'm not going to drive 3 hours away to go sight seeing or go on a tour of something and have to lug my helmet along with me imparing me of having a good time.

I found something like a gun lock, like a 1 ft cable that locks. You can put it around your frame and around the D-ring on the helmet. Nothing permanent on the bike, and you can take it off and put it in like a little tool roll.

Making fun of the idea solves nothing and makes me just look down on you and what you like.

I like the idea of the perimeter alarm. That's a good idea/plan as well.

Thanks to all the positive responses. I don't plan on running a novelty helmet and really want a high dollar carbon fiber helmet to not have mushroom head. I "carry" daily, but not sure how that's going to help me when I'm no where near the bike, lol.

This is a common topic.

Alarms: In the 20 seconds it takes to respond to an alarm, the helmet is 20 seconds gone. 4 guys can load a scoot in 10 seconds and be down the road before the owner arrives.

The gun lock is a great way to secure items to the scoot.

Perhaps they make a lo jack for a helmet...

I've been hoping mine gets stolen for years. That way I can ride home without it. Problem is I'd probably be over the limit and going to jail.

Basically if someone wants to steal something you have ...they will. The thing to do is to make it as difficult as possible so the risk of getting caught in the act out weighs the reward. In other words...don't make it easy for them.
I personally set my helmet on one of the mirrors and paddle lock thru the D ring of the strap and around the stem of the mirror. If they want the helmet they have to cut the strap and the helmet it no good to them, unless they bring tools and take the mirror offf also. At that time the scorpio alarm will kick in. It is a decent master lock with a longer shank. When the wife rides with me, the shank is long enough for 2 helmets.

If you get a "This Bike Is The Property Of Hells Angels" Sticker, you won't need to worry about anyone touching you bike
