So I usually do something fairly major to my bike every winter during the cold weather down time. I have always wanted to change the forks on my Ridgeback, as Marv has said, the front end on the chopper style bikes looks too thin for the overall fatness of these machines and I couldn't agree more. My problem has always been the cost of replacement front ends, until Ultima decided to blow out most of their $2,000 front ends for about $500! So I took the opportunity to:
Buy an Ultima 58MM (5 degree rake in the trees) inverted front end for $529, then sold my stock front end on Ebay for $521. I think the painted headlight really stands out now without being flanked by stock turn signals. Speaking of turn signals....
West Virginia requires turn signals for inspection so I had to find a solution to keep those. Turn signal mirrors seemed like the obvious choice, but most of them are fairly rounded like the Kuryakyn so I needed to find something with some attitude. Finally found the Badlands turn signal mirrors you now see on the bike. These turn signal mirrors are perfect, except for one minor issue, $400 retail! Ouch, but they are perfect in my opinion and I made out on the front end price so what the hell.
I had just installed the S&S dual runner intake after they dropped the retail from $800 to $500. This is a very good breather in my opinion, but I didn't like the filter clamps or end caps being made of aluminum as I felt it didn't look right against the powder-coated engine. So I shipped the filters to Julio to have him paint the end caps to match the paint he did on the rest of my bike. Much better in my opinion, it's all in the details right?
