Perhaps but maybe not.

The ethynal isn't added there. Its added at places like mine. And I haven't heard of this.

But hey... during the winter months we add butane! :D

I know we are producing small 4 cylinder engines at my plant for 3 variations of fuel,E22,E85,and a E100 which is 100% ethanol. So somethings are going to be changing. The only difference in these motors are valve seats and valves and of course the fuel lines and related components.

Virginia beach

This happened in Virginia Beach in June but is happening all over:"FLORIDA HOT SPOT"
I nspectors continue to investigate complaints from Hampton Roads consumers about bad gasoline, but a state agency spokeswoman says she's confident the problematic fuel is no longer being sold.

Calls started pouring into the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services last week from drivers who said they were having trouble with their vehicles after filling up, said department spokeswoman Elaine Lidholm. At least 150 complaints have come from consumers in Franklin, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Gloucester and other areas, she said.

Inspectors said many of the complaints seem to be valid, Lidholm said, and that the problem stemmed from the percentage of ethanol in the fuel being higher than 10 percent.

Lidholm said she was confident that any fuel with more than 10 percent ethanol had either been removed from stations' tanks or had been sold.

Some stations had received a letter from their distributors warning that the fuel could be bad, Lidholm said. Station workers voluntarily pumped the fuel out of the tanks and refilled them with fuel that was properly mixed, she said.

Any bad fuel that was removed would have been sent away to be re-blended, she said.

"In all likelihood, it may all have come from the same source," Lidholm said.

Five inspectors and two supervisors have been checking the complaints and are expected to continue investigating at least through this week, she said. The agency continues to receive complaints, although the pace of the calls had decreased by Wednesday.

Once the investigation is complete, the inspectors' report will be available to the public, Lidholm said. Agriculture officials can levy a civil penalty in such cases but would refer the matter the state attorney general if legal action was warranted.

Drivers who believe they bought the bad fuel should keep receipts until the state determines what happened, Lidholm said. They might also want to get verification from a mechanic that bad fuel had caused problems. She could not say whether consumers would receive any restitution.

Consumers can report bad fuel to the state's consumer hot line at (800) 552-9963.

We have received a dramatic increase of contaminated gas reports from all areas of VA over past month. (parts of NC & SC too). Florida has been consistently #1 for past 6+ months (e10 contaminated gas).
All E10 problems are preventable/avoidable.
Unfortunately few realize gas was cause of engine damage until too late (they don't save receipt or gas sample for state to do proper investigation).
Reports include: Gas grossly contaminated with water (improper mgmt and storage of ethanol blends); Blends far above 10% legal max (as high as 35% reported this week in VA); "Dirty Gas" due to pump not properly cleaned and dry prior to switch to E10.
What most people don't realize is that the percent ethanol changes with each and every delivery (usually every 1-2 days for a busy station). Since ethanol is blended in locally, the brand does not matter - Both top tier and unbranded gas have equal risk -
Ask station if they are testing and monitoring the % ethanol (and water presence) daily - If not you can simply check fuel yourself in about 2 mins.
A portable fuel test kit is reuseable (lasts a lifetime) and costs less than $25. Always test gas before filling up. "like thats gonna happen? but too much ethanol will make your dog run like shit and mileage will suffer big time ...and can and will cause serious damage. Just my 2cents .:angry::angry:

Hears some posts from other sites ..not sure how true but ..
* Ethanol is a strong solvent/cleanser and drying agent that attracts water into gas.
* E10 gas can cause engine damage, poor performance, wear-down parts and lower mpg.
* Many areas do NOT label gas pump when ethanol is added.
* 10% is the maximum approved by conventional engine manufacturers and warranties.
* Shelf life of E10 is less than 3 months. Replace every 2-3 weeks.
* Follow simple precautions to decrease risk and help safely manage E10 fuel blends.
Vapor lock and fuel starvation (stalling, hesitation, inability to start engine), corrosion/rusting, premature disintegration of fuel pump, oxygen sensor damage, clogging/plugging of filters, fuel injectors and carburetor...
Fuel Testers - Home - E10 Gas

If legal limit of ethanol increases to 15%, gas-caused damage will increase.

Complete petition form NOW to oppose E15 increase.
Pre-formatted form will only take a couple of minutes to complete and send to the EPA.

Ethonal is not a solvent/cleanser. Its simply corn achohol that has been denatured with gasoline. So that people don't try to drink it. Further, being achohol it simply couples with water. Where as petro of any kind will seperate and lay on top of water. Ethonal combines with it. There is no real way to seperate the two.

Further, another way that a bad blended batch could get out to the public is if a semi trailer driver entered something wrong into the TMS controller when he was programing his load. Or he entered it in correctly for blend or entered the wrong amount or room. THis happens cause the truck rack will put in the ehtonal and additives first. Then when it goes to add the gasoline. It has already determined the proper amount of those to go with the gas. However if he tries to put 8,000 gallons into a 5,000 gallon hole... the mix will be off. At which you need a company operator to off load the truck and start over... USUALLY most tank farm companies will stop the driver from getting a "bill of laiding" to keep him from leaving therefor keeping that bad product from hitting the street. HOWEVER, we know how things seem to not always work properly.

Thanks Gas ... I did add that I was not sure how true some of that shit was but I do know boaters have been having a time with fuel systems and Ethanol ,talked with the local marine wrench up the road and he's swamped with work "or was before the bad weather" IF I could find it I would not run any of the mixed gas they sell ..but its hard to find anymore !!!!! I can still buy "Cam 2" race gas up the road but it has lead in it and worry a bit about that ...I did some experiments last summer with the Cam2 and it really seemed to wake the bike up "imagined", possibly but not sure my bike run's very well regardless ... your thoughts on Ethanol would be great reading ..I think I speak for all your word on Gas would be the ..Bomb:D:up:

Shit E isn't a big deal. Its achohol. It cleans! All your gas tanks and fuel systems that have never had it, build up a varnish in the tank and fuel lines. You put in the 10% E in there and it cleans that. Therefor clogging the fuel filters, injectors, carb jets, carb passages... So then its the big bad E. Oh no. WTF ever. Its not that big of a deal. IMHO

Thanks ... how about Performance and Mileage..I have a friend in the northern neck who claims he picks up 15% better fuel mileage with non "E" gas he can still buy it there and the station owner can't keep it in stock ..and have heard that better mileage thing before also...if that is true then Performance is hurting also no?
Also in your post before you stated Ethonal is not a solvent/cleanser. Its simply corn achohol that has been denatured with gasoline. ??? is it a solvent cleaner or not?

Its not a solvent. As long as you can agree that achohol isn't a solvent or cleaner. Some guys believe in achohol as being a cleaner.

I'm not sure about better MPG with non E gas.

The thing about E is that it carries a higher octane rating (114) but a lower BTU count.

For example... if you have one of the flex fuel cars that will run off E85. Sure the E85 is a bit cheaper but because it has a lower BTU content you burn more of it to do the same thing. Therefor, lower MPG. So you don't really save money.

On the flip... I have spoke to a few turbo tuner guys that are tunning their turbo and supercharged motors to run on nothing but E85 because it has a octane of 107. Higher than anything else for street. So you can throw tons of compression and forced induction at it. Make nice power that way.

Bottom line is that there is not much out there in real truths when it comes to E fuels. Most people are spreading around the same half truths and BS stories that have been around for years. I have been running E10 gas in all my vechicles for years. No issues at all.
