How do you lock the primary/clutch to remove primary nut?

No,
That is the primary nut the wrench is on....
The clutch basket is on the other end of the chain not pictured here..
I just used a rag without anything in it and a electric impact wrench to loosen the nuts...

what you need to think about with the clutch hub nut though is that you need to also lock the inner hub to the outer. To do this I bolted two old clutch plates together - one steel and one friction.
