Damn!!!!That book is the handiest thing, with the BDM manual you can do anything with these bikes.
Can you believe when I put my cam in there was NO breather gear? John Sachs thought I was nuts! He sent me one and I put it in. I noticed that after looking closer at the S&S book, realized I didn't have on in. The .600 cam alone made a difference, after installing the BG I noticed yet even more difference.
They did start removing the geared breathers and going with a reed valve type that does not have a gear. It has a spring in the center that loads against the cam nose cone. That book is the handiest thing, with the BDM manual you can do anything with these bikes.

I'm under the assumption that the reed valve is better. What do you guys think? They did start removing the geared breathers and going with a reed valve type that does not have a gear. It has a spring in the center that loads against the cam nose cone.
Did you have one of those?

No it was empty, that's why John thought I was nuts....They did start removing the geared breathers and going with a reed valve type that does not have a gear. It has a spring in the center that loads against the cam nose cone.

Yeah right! I know John wouldn't steer one in the wrong direction!Oh and the extra 10% horsepower you get from not turning that gear!
The 117 is a SSW+ as well as 111 and 124Since mine is a 04 117", is that a SSW or just the EVO?
So you have a SSW EVO and a SSW Plus(+)correct? The 117 is a SSW+ as well as 111 and 124
107 and 113 are SSW EVO
You have the newer reed breather. Its on the left with small spring sticking out.If you look at this picture of mine it has none
Yea the SSW evo 107 , 113 have a 4" bore and vent thru the carb/ air cleaner plate (hollow) bolts in to the headSo you have a SSW EVO and a SSW Plus(+)correct?
Thanks for the info V.Yea the SSW evo 107 , 113 have a 4" bore and vent thru the carb/ air cleaner plate (hollow) bolts in to the head
The SSW+ 111, 117 and 124 have a 4 1/8" bore, with a evo style bottom end and twin cam style top end that has seperate breather valves at the top of the heads. The rear cylinder on our bikes with the 117 that are stock have a vent line on top of the head with a black and white check valve and this line ran into the back of the air cleaner plate.
