After parking it for about 2 weeks, I started it up to go for a ride. It started but was only running on one piston , I let it warm up for about 15 min and was running the same, so I decided to slowly take it for a spin and after about 10 min of riding it the second piston came on. What would cause this? and is it normal to have a bike do this? It had never happened to me so I was wondering if I need to get it checked or is something I need to look into.

Loose plug wire or faulty connection at the plug?

I wouldn't have gone anywhere with it running that way. But I'm glad it worked out for you.

my 04 mastiff did this just before the cold snap i went out to ride it stated up fine ran on one cylinder shut it off tryed to start about a hour latter would not start just backfire both plugs was fouled replaced both charged battery every thing is fine

Are you using the enrichener???? If so STOP!!
It is completely stock nothing done to it and about a month ago when I got it, I picked it up a the dealership cause the previous owner had just had the 5k miles maintenance done for me, so I wonder if they did the whole tuneup to it.

Not normal, stop using the enrichener you are you are fouling up the plugs. If it happens again change the plugs. If it continues with new plugs, check you wires.

Battery Battery Battery ...

It happened to me. Not a completely charged battery. Bike was running badly after a pushrod adjustment. Thought it was that. But after recharging the battery it ran like a champ. Good Luck ... hope the fix is as simple as mine. :D  :flag:

If your plugs look good and the plug wires have a good connection, you may want to check to see if you have a leak on one side of your intake. This might prevent fuel from being pulled into that cylinder. Heat may have expanded the intake and given it a better seal to cause it to start pulling in fuel and running on both cylinders. But start with the easy stuff first like the plugs and battery. Those are most likely your issues.

Why? I always thought you were supposed to for 30 seconds or so if it started cold? Its either that or sit and hold the throttle part way open.
Jesse,
There are about 1000 posts on this subject. Take time to read a few. As for warming up, all dogs don't have a cruise mate but I think most all have a locking device for the throttle. Once cranked, use that device to hold rpms around 1500 till warmed up.

I agree with LDO....as this would be my first item going down the troubleshooting check list.
