05 Pitbull Like the RedHeaded Step Child?

I have always wanted an 03-04 Pitbull, something about the styling just does it for me. Now that I own an 03 am thinking about what my next BD might be. Though it's not much of an "upgrade" am thinking about an 05 Pit for the wider tire look and 117" motor. I have read though that it seems to be the 05's are problematic more so than most others? It's my .02 cents but certainly don't dig the new "retro" look to the Pits and the elongated look of the 06 on up just don't give me the woody I get looking at the 02-05 style! Appreciate the input!

I have an 05 pit with 12,000 miles and haven't had any major problems with it. I have read many threads on here about the 05's having rocker box issues, luckily i haven't had any.

I have an 05 Ridgeback and have not had any problems. I did have the restrictor plate removed and changed the exhaust. I do not know that the 05 is more problematic than any other year, but it is the year Big Dog "detuned" them to some extent.

Can you be more specific about the problems you've heard about from the '05 Pit? I have one. Bought it used and had to replace the VR and stator shortly afterwards. I've also had some motor issues that are possibly related to the TP rocker boxes. Had an exhaust valve break mid stem and raised hell in the cylinder/head/piston. No apparent abnormal wear on the valve guide but it happened all the same. WTF. Get what you want and roll with the punches. I hear of crazy shit all the time on other year and models, so I'm not aware of anything excessive that goes on with the '05 model. :job:

Perhaps I am wrong but what you have stated sounds "excessive". In regard to being specific, I can say that its probably no more than other years but am asking to be sure! ... EHC issues, Motor quitting randomly, Fuel delivery. I have always been weary of year 1 of any generation. :2thumbs:
