I was at the Lone Star Rally this past weekend and my Ridgeback got JACKED !!!! Luckily it was insured and just have to go thru the aggrevation....Thinking about going back with a K-9 this time....I wished BDM made a k-9 with a 330 tire.

Dang man, that sux.

Sorry to hear it. You have a pretty good attitude about it though. It will all work out.

Don't mean to pry but how does it work with the insurance and getting yourself another bike?

Had a HD Stolen

Sorry to hear this.....I had a Road Glide jacked a few years ago.....was a hassle but I eventually got a check to cover the cost and paid the remaining loan off and got out of bikes for a few years.....I am now back in....no problems getting insured and my rates did not go up....

It will be Ok but it really does suck.....

LDO...not sure how all that's going to work out....got everything submitted...should come out okay though, I got a really good deal on that bike as it was a dealer demo...Claim rep told me to list everthing i had in it /on it extra and the costs of everything. I figure if i can add in all the upgrades and they will pay me at least 60 % of that cost, i should get all or most of my money back outta it....

stlmikie- No, i didn't leave the key in it....cop asked me the same thing. pulled it outta my pocket and showed him.

There is nothing worse then a liar or a thief. I am truly sorry to hear about this disturbing event. I am glad that everything seems to be working out in the effort to get you back on another Big Dog. There are a lot of great deals out there.

I had LoJack installed on my Big Dog and Mercedes last year when thefts started rising in my area. I would like to offer this as a recommendation on your future ride. There are two Lojack systems; I would go with the early warning key fob. If your bike is moved without your “permission” which is the key fob being in close proximity to the bike, you are alerted by cell phone etc.

Toad,

I was gonna ask if anybody had LoJack. I haven't check prices yet, but I think it's kind of spendy isn't it?

Did you install it or does it have to be installed by a dealer?

Also, is there some sort of monthly monitoring or service fee?

thanks everybody, I'll let you know the details as they arise....I paid cash for the bike, so I don't have to deal with any finance company....As for a run down of the heist, parked a couple of blocks off the Strand that afternoon, because traffic getting on the Strand was grid-locked, motor was getting hot, so we turned down an alley and when back around the block and parked...I parked in a row of bikes along the street that had probably 300 bikes along the sidewalk, both sides of the street. left the bikes, walked down into the Strand area and partied for a few hours, got something to eat, bought a few t-shirts and walked back to where the bikes were about 11:15pm. cuz we were all riding out to a bar called Woody's further down the island. Alot of bikes were gone by that time and there were a lot of empty spots along that street. Realized the bike was gone, thru a cussing fit, went and got a cop and he called a unit to do a report, offered us (me and my girl) a ride to the condo. called my insurance company the next morning, blah, blah, blah.....I found out the cop didn't even file the report til Monday at 4:30 pm, so that gave the thieves a 48 hour head start.....probably chopped up in a million pieces by now.....gotta a pretty good outlook on it now. Just remembering all the hard bumps in the road and all the wild rides around the corners with that son of a bitch skipping and bucking sideways....gonna get me a K-9 so it will handle better in the curves...i ride hard so this may be a blessing in disqueise...

Depending on ones definition of affordable, the unit runs around $600. Professional instillation is included and required. There are no monthly service fees. Some may argue that you can get a great alarm for that price, which is true. Lojack is not an alarm. However, an alarm is not going to get your bike back or land the thief’s ass in jail. Hopefully the Lojack will, in the horrible event of a theft. Nothing is full proof though.

That really sucks ..... hears how I see it ..your bike really becomes one with you .....after a while you know all the noises clicks and pops .. Even though you will get a new bike the whole bonding process will have to start all over , I would hate to lose my chopper ..It took a while for me to really know most of the nuts and bolts .. I have plenty scrapes and gouges under the bike from riding it

As crazy as it sounds ..its like customizing ...and each has a story. I hate a thief. good luck with your new ride!

That sucks. Best of luck.
Cops don't go and look for your bike, they just fill out the paperwork.
Frustrating it can be!!
