NEW STARTER BUTTON HELP.................

I GOT this starter button yet i havent a clue what the thread and nut ,nor the seal is all about,what its for,where it goes and what purpose it serves....can i get some insight on this whole ordeal....................

Jimmi: Mine was threaded on the inside which it looks as though yours isn't. The nut and stud were for adjusting the depth of the plunger. As for the seal mine was already installed on the plunger!!! After all of that thogh I realized ... the damn thing didn't fit!!!!

Jimmi: From what I see in your pic the stud and nut are of no use to you due to the end of the rod not being threaded! I think the seal may go on the outside. I think take the snap ring off, pull stem out of housing, put seal on stem the reinstall stem into housing and replace snap ring if my memory serves me correctly. As I said tho mine didn't even fit my starter but there may be a very good reason for it as it appears they sent you a dif one!!!!! Hope this helps.

The seal goes on the outside of the housing with the lip down or pushed in. Then insert the push rod or manual button. Screw the threaded piece or set screw into the end on the inside leaving 5-6 threads exposed. Use a blue loctite on the threads. Mine did not have a washer with it but I had one I put on it "lock washer" and then the lock nut. I threaded the set screw in until I could put the housing on and the gear was not being pushed out. I had a extra starter out already to set my travel.
