CLUTCH NOT TOTALLY DISENGAGING

I have a open primary (Kararta) 2006 K9, when bike is hot clutch is not totally disengaging at stop in first gear ( intermittent) - but if I move bike around it disengages. I have pulled clutch apart seems OK, and of course checked nut which was OK but I removed and reinstalled anyway also check adjustment at push rod was OK but readjusted anyway. I checked cable and adjuster and was OK . looking to see if anyone has had this happen to them for other ideas before I take right side apart. thanks in advance.

I lubed end on clutch side but that all, I have never pulled totally out, do you lube the entire length of the rod.

yes - get as much on there as you can then wipe off the excess when its back in. If you have a grease gun or something similar then all the better Also regrease your bearings in the actuator (ball & ramp) itself.

I had the exact same creeping problem with my Karata -- before it failed and I posted the thread linked by Staffy.

Jim was very cordial on the phone but he refused to even consider that his product might have been defective.

IMO, I got a defective part and had to pay cold hard cash to replace it when it failed 1 year later.

I occasionaly have sticky plates with my dry clutch, even after I know adjustment was clean. Usually when cold, but I just pop the throttle as I'm coming to a stop to disengage. Dry clutch is 3 years old, I'll pull it this winter to check everything.

I have the Baker Open Drive Primary and after I got back from Sturgis, I noticed that is it was acting funny and would creep when I was stopped and had it in gear. I tried to adjust the clutch, but that didn't work, so I took my clutch apart and noticed that the pressure plate had some deep groves in it, and consequently took out the first friction plate with it. Most all the material on the friction plate was gone. I called Baker and they sent me a new pressure plate and friction plate. Not warranty, had to pay for it, the guy said that was normal wear and caused by riding the clutch. :job: He is full of it cause I don't ride the clutch, maybe it was to tight. Anyway I replaced the parts and it appears to be working fine now.

How much did that cost ya? If you don't mind.....I am looking at seriously getting the baker.

:eek: I would too, I thought you were talking about the open primary.:loony: I cost $61.00 for both the Pressure plate, Friction Plate and shipping. That is more in my range :lol:

How wide is the belt on the Baker open primary? I was under the impression that it was a really narrow belt.
