My Mastiff Rocks!

To continue the glorification of our mechanized art, I would like to say that my Mastiff Rocks! I went riding with some folks from my Brigade, and the man with the 2007 Ducati 1098 sauntered up to me and proclaimed his envy. Enough said.

You know how great it is to just be able to hop on the scoot, ride for a couple hundred miles, just because you can? It's a great feeling.. until somehow your front cylinder baffle flies out of your nice V&H big radius exhaust.

Soooooo, I am just going to have to remove the rear cylinder (top) baffle and re-tune the carb. When I get around to it later this week, I think I'll start off with going up 2 on the jet so I won't have to deal with any more popping. UGH!

In any case, Matilda is still queen of the road, or at least my cul de sac. Even with that little annoyance, BIG DOG is the best ticket in town! :flag:

I wish I had more money.
I have a set of the baffles here at the house if you want them. So's that you don't have to retune. PM me if you want them.

Stlmikie,

Thank you for the offer. The challenge is not so much the baffle, as the loss of metal on which to affix the baffle. The bottom pipe is missing a chunk.. I am not quite sure what I can do with that. Do you think I can have something welded?

It's great to hear how happy you are with your Dog.

How old are the pipes? You may want to contact V&H to see what they can do.

Well Tim has the right idea. But with that said I think a few of the guys here have had the same problem and just went up to a welding shop and had them tacked on. Let me know either way.

Lower Baffle:
Corner harder thus scraping the bottom of the lower pipe enough to "pinch" the baffle in.

Top:
Put new baffle in and install a "set screw" of sorts.

I contacted V&H, an they are sending me a new baffle and a set screw free of charge. They suggested that I just tap a new hole for the screw being that the old one is gone. Thanks for the advice!

I would do like Ray said. Then weld in or use a longer bolt with a nylon lock nut on the inside. The nylon lock nut is what I did for Dave's and my bud with his V&H on his honda. The problem is that V&H pipe wall thickness is junk and they can't make a baffle worth a shit if their life depended on it.
