For all us "anal-retentive" detail freaks, here's another website that's full of good info (it's got a motorcycle forum section too):

Autopia.org Car Detailing Forum :: #1 in Auto Detailing Discussion!

I did a real "number" on my new K9 recently (separate thread:nopity::zzdisappointed:), so I was looking for help everywhere and ran across this other forum.

(EDIT - a big thank you to 'baldielox' in this forum, who's a detailer himself and helped me a LOT!)

Maybe it will help you too. ENJOY!!!

Thanks K9. I have been looking for some information on detailing my toy hauler. This forum should help. I spent about 3 hours polishing the aluminum on my chopper on Sunday. I still have the back wheel to go, but it looks great. Mother's mini-ball is a wonderful tool.

How is your engine coming? Any pics?

It is a 2007 FS2500 Weekend Warrior. Instead of having black streaks, it looks like this dull back haze of over everything. Not bad - but I want to get it off before it becomes an issue. Plus I need to polish/wax it. It has the painted aluminum exterior and it going to be a pain in the rear to polish/wax so any advice is appreciated.

Mother's 'Mini-Ball' is good for larger, flat surfaces, but it's too big for all the nook & crannies of the engine. Anyway, about 8 more hours of elbow grease ought to do it for correcting my "screw-up".

I missed some great riding weather last weekend and it's supposed to be nice again this 4th of July weekend, so my goal is to squeeze in time after work each night to wrap it up by then...I hope! :whoop:
(no pics, sorry...too busy polishing!)

ps - saw this on the Autopia website: Cycle Armor Aluminum Guard Bundle by Ultima

I'm just glad I could help. As much as this forum has helped me so far I'm always happy to give back so don't hesitate to hit me up when things like this occur. I'll do my best to help out.

There was a previous thread on picking up a polishing kit at Harbor Freight and Caswell kits for $20.00.
The kits looked like they might fit into the end of a demel type tool. Personally I have the Craftsman Rotary Tool with a flexible extension and it's great for getting into those tight spots....

There are a few different kinds of polishing felts that can be effective. There are ones for the dremels (not cost effective), small port and polish kits for cylinder heads (depends on the kit you find), and even gun cleaning felts (usually the cheapest and several sizes to choose from). You really just need the right sized felt to fit the space you're working in and rotary shank.
