Garage floor or too much Beer?

Today I received My 2010 Tag Registration Stickers for my Dog. I’m so excited! However, I get very nervous when it comes time to apply them. Nothing bothers me more that a crooked registration sticker, so, I decided to calm down, have a Beer and tackle the problem head on.

First I dragged out the Horbart welder and mocked up a bracket out of 1/4" steel to hold the Tag level and plum on my workbench. I then removed the Tag from the Bike and placed it into the bracket. (The Tag… not the Bike.) It fit nicely. Luckily I have access to a Massspectrographic Isotopic Doublediathermal Diaphonoscope and placed it across the garage in order to project a grid onto the Tag. I carefully cleaned the area on the Tag where the sticker is to be applied, with some spit and part of the t-shirt I was wearing. Kinda’ lo tech… but Hey, It worked. Next… I slowly pealed the sticker from the backing… and placed the backing in the trash can. (I try to clean the workspace as I go.) For the final step I applied the sticker using the projected grid… starting with the top right corner… working to the left and down. This “move” takes some practice and will probably become more natural every season. Finally, I mounted the Tag back on the Bike and stood back to have a look at my wonderful handy work.

CRAP! It’s crooked as Hell!

I suspect the garage floor or workbench is not level and therefore threw the whole thing off. Oh well… I’ll try something different next season. For now I’ll have another Beer and ponder what went wrong. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Well its obvious you hadn't had enough to drink when you tackled this project. Toss back 6-8 shots of your fav whiskey and try again!
