No Sparky/fire ?

I recently replaced a right hand switch assembly-board and rubber membrane. I had no front brake light and the feft turn signal came on when ever it liked. The rubber membrane was torn around the start button and the brake wire had come off the board. This all works fine now, and the bike spins over. But I go no fire to the plugs ! I have the old style Thunderfart ignition-round plug, no light comes at the module or at the ignition unit.
Can the module be tested ? Any ideas on this unexplained phenomenon ? 04' Chopper DT, 107 S+S, 10 K miles

No Spark part 2

OK after extensive and exhaustive trouble shooting, I found that the Thunderheart module has given up the ghost. It gets power in but no power comes out and no red light.
I am now installing a Dyna system, everything is just about in place. What is the suggested wire to bring 12 volts-switched to the coil ?

What's wrong with the wire that originally powered your ignition unit?

If you're gonna go through the trouble of running another wire, why not change to a sportster style 12v ignition switch, and run a seperate fused wire over to the Dyna ignition from the switch. This way no matter what, the EHC can never leave you stranded.

The original wires to the coil were yelow and red ones. The red wire seems to be switched-the power to the coil wire, but it only reads 8.5 volts. Will low voltage cause a problem ?
I have thought of putting a Sportster style switch in = power directly to the coil when turned on.

First of all, which Dyna are you installing? Dual fire, single coil?

Secondly, where is the 8.5V coming from?

8.5V bad :down: , 12V good :up: !

You need to find out where you're losing power in that wire! It should be a full 12V...

Another possibility would be for you to use the wire that originally powered the ignition module. That should be a switched 12V source...

However, I'd still be worried why the original coil wire only had 8.5V! It could have a high resistance short somewhere. If that's the case it could drag the original ignition module wire down to 8.5V also!

PS Sorry if my previous post was little confusing before I made the correction! I was looking at a 2005 wiring diagram instead of a 2004... Fingers work faster than the brain sometimes!

I have found the rear license plate light power-little plug with red and black wires and it is switched 12 volts. I am going to tap off this for coil power.
After removing the original ignition harness, I could not find or trace a 12 volt switched power source.

It runs ! But no tach ?

Okay the Dyna system is in and running fine, alot less pinging. But I now have no tach and the turn signals do not self cancel ?
Where can I buy a manual or wiring diagram ?
