I agree that their time might be better spent solving actual crimes, but I can't complain too much since he could've given me the $200 ticket for not wearing a DOT helmet.

It does suck here, unfortuneately myself and my better half both work here in VA, but when this economy turns around we'll be looking to relocate. Hopefully to a place with a longer riding season, I'm having trouble finding a size 280 snow tire...

I wear one! But I believe in the freedom of choice!:flag: :2thumbs:

But there are those out there that want us to believe that we still have our freedom, But..."they" want to be able to decide what is and is not safe or good for us!...
 Seems to be a little bit of a conflict there, don't you think?
Their goal is to save us from ourselves! :loony:

Is it a Democracy or Dictatorship is the real question with a lot of things today.

But I love America! :flag: I just wish "We the People" :hi: could have it back! :2thumbs:  :2thumbs: :flag:

I don't wear a helmet, I don't wear seat belts (I know, already got two citations). In Idaho, its a law to wear seat belts -- but not a helmet. I don't get it. I don't think my big head will hurt anyone if I get in an cycle accident and I don't think it will hurt anyone if I get ejected from my truck. Politics and money. If wearing a helmet was of such great concern then why isn't set up that way across the U.S.? Since it's up to individual states then it makes sense, that it's plain and simple, state politics -- and money. That's enough to piss you off.

While living in Colorado it was freedom of choice and i did not wear a helmet. Here in beautiful upstate NY it's the law. Give the choice I would not wear a helmet it's just so much more comfortable riding... :flag:

TRUE COLORS COLLISION
 IN posting your poll it seems as though you are pro helmet (not helmit)by the remarks made after each choice.......nonetheless...a somewhat loaded poll..

the thing about the helmet law as evidenced by alot of guys here that wear helmets by choice is that uncle sam MAKES us wear the things,it is not a choice, therefore it pisses us off that its a political and financial decision and not a choice given to tax paying americans...i trip on the fact that i can get pulled over near a school in my car for not wearing a seatbelt as a schoolbus of tiny elementary children drive by ,all unbelted cause they dont even install them in the state school busses...hypocrites....
anyway i like to ride to pennsylvania and delaware just to ride without a helmet, personally i love the freedom, and not having that uncomfortable thing strapped to my head, honestly if safety was our first objective in life...would we be on bikes to begin with?????:flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag:

Yup I wear a helmet because its the law in Mi but its a novelty which is still illegal o well. My problem is state gov allowes people to smoke in public which affects everyone around them but forces me to wear a seatbelt and helmet which ony affects me. Like previously said its about the $

well said.

what ChopperJeff said about those 98% vs 2% only seems logical to me also ... they don't give a sh... about nobody safety but this way (and many many others) they think they got the power ... stupid c...suckers

it should be your choice only

I wear novelty helmets even I have ECE/DOT ones ... I like WWII german ones ... the people tells me I'm nazy ... maybe I should with most of them thinking like that ...

A friend of mine raised a good point about helmet laws in that if they are making it mandatory that motorcycle riders wear a helmet, then why not require cagers to wear one too? Don't they claim that it's due to the potential of head injuries of motorcycle riders that helmet laws were instigated? Fine, then what about those cagers who end up sustaining head injuries due to a crash, and not wearing a helmet?

I guess the point is, if a law is in affect to require motorcyclists to wear a helmet, then people in cars should also be required to ear one. Seems the only true logical conclusion.
If this is a logical conclusion then wouldn't it be equally logical to require seat belt and airbag use on motorcycles?

ya'll quit giving them ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not to worry because if we we're going to use this "cars and bikes should be equal' logic it would also make sense that to get a driver's license a person would have to prove they can operate a front brake, back brake, throttle, clutch, shifter, and some controls like turn signals and high/low beams with different appendages... all at the same time... smoothly!!!

Although, if that were the case it might just reduce the number of drivers on the road...

I don't wear one because it is not the law here in Iowa but I also don't have one yet..... Just got my first motorcycle last week and I got a 04 Mastiff. Love it so far.

I always wear one, I know it looks goofy to most but I personally have sprayed too much brain matter off the side of the road where if they had been wearing one they may have been injured but still alive. Not to bring out the soap box, just my personal opinion and I'm all for letting someone be their own judge.

When in rome.......... Otherwise, I have no Choice. Although, the Helmet law Penalty in NJ is now a 25$ Fine and No Points, so I Plan on testing the boundries this year with some shoe Polish and Helmet Stickers on my Mellon, just to see how far I get. Sorry, but the Poll choices should also say, Yes, But not by Choice.
