question pushrod adjust.

hey guys i got 05 pitbull with 117 s&s, i wanted to know if yall recommend going 3 or 4 turns past zero lash????? they say you can go 3 turns if got excessive valve train noise. wouldnt 4 be 1 turn tighter to help with noise.

My understanding is that less turns allows more oil into the tappet, which pumps up and has a better cushining effect.

But I have been wrong B4

so s&s says extend pushrod just till it touches lifter plunger, but the forum on here says till unturnable to get zero lash what yall think

with the piston at TDC of the comp stoke (both tappets at their lowest point) loosen the rods, then extend by hand to just a slight drag while spinning the rod (zero lash) then extend rod 3-4 turns.

use chalk to keep track of your turns.

let bleed down for about 15 minutes.

rods should then spin by hand, no valve pressure.

repeat with next cylinder.

chacha did a good write up on this.

just be sure any directions you read dont include limiters as BD doesnt use them.

not sure of the 'write up' but adjusting till unturnable sounds like the adj using limiters which i have. thats done starting with the tappet's piston bottomed out with valve pressure on it which forces all oil out. then 1 turn looser.
