I AM DONE

I have had 4 batteries, an ehc, voltage reg and a starter. All seperate times with only 3100 miles on my 7 mo old bike. And it took a crap again today. So who knows what parts it needs this time. I have been stranded 4 times in which I had to call a buddy to pick it up with a trailer. The batt when I got home and checked was at 00 volts. It died while riding. Anyone have a possitive outlook? This is soon headed to my lawyer. I can't trust taking it out of town. This last one was within 65 miles of the last haul in!!

That is horrible - and your frustration is completely understandable. These problems do seem extreme - I have about 4k on my 2007 K9 and really haven't had any problems and I know many others who also have had great performance. There are a lot of smart people on this forum who can likley help you to work through some of the problems and Big Dog seems to be very strong in helping through challenges like you are experiencing as well. Perhaps someone here can point you to a good person to contact at BD HQ.

I hope your situation improves with the Bike - good luck

Sounds to me like you better find a better shop that will find the issue . Who ever you are taking it to is overlooking something . I know the feeling my 08 gave me some problems also . You will get it ironed out . It cant be that many things . They will find it . It is still under warranty they will get it fixed .
If you cazll Doug at BDM Tech he will get it figured out . He is a good stand up guy . (316) 267-9121

Get a different dealer to take care of your bike!

When you keep having trips planned that you have to cancel hotel res that you have had for months it gets old. That is why I bought a new bike. I have had a dozen harleys and a couple customs with no worry but to point and go ride off to where ever you desire. No fun trailering your bike when you want to ride it there cause your afraid it will need to be trailered home anyway.

Sounds like your bike isn't charging...

Have you checked your circuit breaker and/or 40amp fuse?

Check the voltage on the above on the VR side to see if you are getting charge from the stator and vr?

Charging system was fine. Unplugged the tender and got 5 miles from the house. Died while I was in 4th gear. speedo jumped around to the other side of the gauge. The battery is ohming across the terminals.

Make it your winter project to rewire the thing. Not hard to do if you keep it simple, and it will never let you down again. In the meantime keep busting the shop's balls to get it fixed. If it died while you were riding, and now battery is dead, check to make sure the stator plug is in and not damaged. Check for 12-14 volts at battery when bike is running. Voltage should rise with RPMs. If no rise, you have a problem in the charging system. Let us know.

Yeah but have you checked the bike's charging system with a volt meter while the bike is running?

But bottom line is its under warrenty and you just need to find a decent shop.

I agree with Gas Man, if it's under warranty, take it to Iron Lightning in Tulsa. The have a fantastic reputation and should get you going.

If your dealer can not help you, ship it out to Steel Dreams and master Tech Thomas will fix whatever ails your pup.

I ride my pup hard and have had no major issues, yet I do not abuse my hound.

These bikes perform at their best when rode alot, not just to show off or bar hop.

Good luck and see ya on the road sometime.

That sucks dude, got mine used (3k) I have 12000 miles now and only one major break down which was at Leesburg Bike fest this year. My clutch cable broke but It happened across the street from a small shop. Had to push her (they helped) about 200 feet. They got me going. Sorry about your luck…

That is pretty bad. Who is your current dealer? Take it to Iron Lightning and let us know what happens.

I called BDM and they told me to take it back to Thunder. They were going to have a elec specialist call to troubleshoot. Via the phone:job:
