I have been through a couple of stock speedos and was on my to a third one. So I started looking into alternatives. The only 2 5/8 I could find were autometer again and I was not going to put another one of those on my bike. Since I had one of the old gauges that quit working all together I decide to gut it and take some measurements of the inside. From there I went to dakota's web site to see what they had to offer. There I saw there 2 1/16 mini speedo and the measurements were very close to the inside of the original. I bought one and mounted it into the gutted gauge pod and it came out pretty nice. I bought the gauge said they never had one of the dakota gauges fail. I will try to post some pic's of the finished product, but not sure on how to do it.
