traveling and camping

I havent went camping since i was a kid,yet i have been drawn to want to revisit doing this while going on bike runs,i am interested first off in what all would be the neccessary evils to take along...at this point i have absolutely nothing ,I have been lookin at tents lately, also i am in need of a sissybar bag and for all you guys that allready have them and use them i wanted your input into which one would suit my needs best..now all this would be strapped to my bike ...any opinions and pics would greatly be appreciated....

Hi, Camp all the time and found out the hard way you can't have a tent that is too big. After my first trip with a "Micro" tent I now have a 9x7 [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Wenzel-Timber-Ridge-7-Foot-Four-Person/dp/B000F1YIQ6"]Wenzel Timber Ridge[/ame]. It cost me less than $50 online, packs up pretty small and is completely watertight. The reason for the size is A: You want to be able to stretch out without touching walls in a rainstorm and B: You want room for all your gear. As with any tent you do want a ground cloth and any cheap blue tarp will do.
Oh Yeah, you might want some ROK Straps to hold your gear on the Dog. I have a group buy on now @ http://valuetec.startlogic.com//page12.html.

A small two man tent, compact sleeping bag, bed roll, chair, T-bag,

thats all good information thanks...how about the sissy bar bags..what kind do you like..i like the saddleman s2200e that costs around $135..with all this stuff i just didnt want to buy stuff and it be too small then have to go out and spend more money on the same stuff just bigger......i really am into the bigger tent for i dont like a lack of room,,maybe the clostraphobic in me....and definately dont want anything in the dimensions of 8x10....just brings back too many memories!!!!!!

Knotso and I can load a bike down. Here is Knotso's bike last year on the way to the Redwood Run. He carried some gear for me cause I had Glenda with me so lost the rear seat that I normally have a duffle bag on when I'm alone.

Phat tires make wide loads look better don't you think?

Tent - as big as you need
Sleeping bag - summer time you can get a real small one
Mattress pad - I use a foam inflatable
Pillow - or rolled up jacket
Ice chest - collapsable
Camp chairs - make life more comfortable
Comfortable shoes - Teva's for me..... The ones Tonya loves!
Bug spray
Charger (cigarette light connection) - charge cell, camera, MP3....

Thing is not to over pack. It's easy to over pack so go easy on cloths. You will be buying t-shirts so there is your new shirt each day.

Strap everything down good. Carefull not to rub paint or chrome.

Ship gear if you can. Glenda and I ship our gear to Sturgis then when we are done we ship it home. The duffle will have tent, sleeping bags, mattress and other camp gear in it that we don't need traveling the two days there and back.
