Neutral Light ?

Hey everyone. Beautiful day in New Jersey so I decided to take the Dog out for a walk today. She ran just fine:2thumbs:

BUT !

After about 25 miles or so, I noticed that the Green Neutral light on the speedo was on. Even while riding. After stopping I would put the bike in neutral and the Green Neutral light would be brighter to indicate that it was actually in neutral. No shifting problems, no problems what so ever (Thank goodness) just that constant Neutral light on all the time.:bang:

Nothing has changed with the bike, and never had any problems with the speedo or transmission or Neutral light ever before.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ride safe:cheers:

That little skinny wire is grounded now. It wore through the insulation. You have to trace it and locate it to fix it. Most likely under the tank. You can see what color wire it is on top of the tranny. Trace it back to the speedo from there.

Nope not it !

Hey "Ray". Just spent the last two hours searching for any open/grounded wire section. Could not find anything. Pulled the gas tank as well, and everything is fine, secure and covered:up:

Still have the Green Neutral light even when in gear, and much brighter when actually in neutral :bang:

Any idea what else would cause this ? HELP ! Thanks in advance

Did you remove the connector at the top of the transmission and clean it?
Also you may want to pull your speedo and check the tach board. Maybe it's grounded there. Could be you need a new tach board but sounds like it's just a ground. Does the neutral lit stay on solidly or does it adjust in intensity and go in and out. If it's ground it may do the last I described.

Neutral

Thanks for the quick reply.

I just checked for any bare / cracked wires. I will follow up on removing all connections and clean them up.

To answer your question, its funny, the light stays on, but is very dull (Obviously noticibley brighter at night) but does not get brighter and dull unless the tranny is placed into neutral.

Can I purchase a new board or do I need a new speedo ?

Bike has not been washed in quite some time.

Thanks again for all of your help:2thumbs:

It has nothing to do with the speedo. You just get another board like in my pictue above it's the green computer ring thinggggyyy!!! :D But I would pull it first and clean it up and see if it helps.

Nelson can get you one quick.

Mine did the same thing when I got caught in a down pour once. Except my neatrual light and oil pressure litght was on. Had alot of water in the connector at the ehc. Dried it out and put dielectric grease in the connector no more problems.

I had the same thing happen as RRRUFF. I have a problem with the neutral switch rattling loose and the green light "flashes" so I have to reach down and adjust it a little. Is there anyway to tighten it up?

Simple way to check it is to un hook the sensor....if the light goes off then you know it's the sensor. If it doesn't and you have checked all the wiring, then it's time to take apart the speedo.
