Oil cooler - Oil Brand / type ?????

Looking for Ideas on oil cooling, Brand, and Type

I installed a Big Dog Oil Cooler and was not impressed with the lowering of the oil temp. Before 225 F / After 205 F

I bought a 6 vane double row "radiator" (J&P Cycle catalog) type and put it between the forks 1 1/4' above the oil filter and protected with a Black MICRO
screeen.
Before with Big Dog cooler 205 F / Now 190 F

I would like to get to 180F / 185F and not lower.


2007 Big Dog 117 - K9 L/E
Measurments were on a August day 96 F 2PM Humidity 74%


I currently use Royal Purple Motorcycle Snythenic oil .

Any other Brand's better.

jagg 10 row is supposedly the best.

but water boils at 212 degrees (?) so you want to get it close to dissipate condensation. IMO

You don't want your temp to be too low like Marv said. The water won't dissipate from the oil. I run the BDM cooler and it works fine.

2007 Mastiff
I installed two BDM oil coolers on my 07 Mastiff and here in FL gets dam hot and not a single problem. I carry a non-contact temp gun to verify how well they work and so far (2+ years) they work great. Also keep in mind the oil does need to reach at least 180F to do its job and synthetic can stand temps to over 600F. If you go BDM just buy two of them and you have everything you need.
