Battery Blues

Once one thing get fixed another breaks. I got my forkseals to work now my battery is acting up. I feel as if I consistantly get fucked with no reach around. I need somone to identify a piece for me.

In this picture if it attached OK

A Black rectangle appx. 2in by a 1/2 an inch
One very small cable (green) going to, I believe the ignition
one small cable (black) goin directly to the neg. post
red wire that goes to the pos. terminal
the last wire goes to the top of the starter

What the hell is this box, some kinda relay?

The black wire is so fragile and breaks very easily. In the picture you can see it on the right side of the screen that it is ripped off.

Also what kind of connecters should I use? I'm assuming copper? Is there some type of amp. rating.

Trace the wires see where they go. Could be some fancy alarm or something! One thing I do know the black box isn't mounted correctly hanging like that!

yeah those wires are in bad shape....I would try to get them fixed too.....that will only cause problems down the road....looks like the were burning or getting hot...

I may not be right but I think that is your turn signal cancelling box. If your trace the wires one should go thru your rear fender to your rear lights. Again I may be wrong.

All I know is that it has somthing to do with the ignition. When I touch the small frayed black wire to the neg post I am able to star the bike. This is all my fault. DEPLOYMENTS ARE A BITCH.

Don't know what that box is :loony: , could be an alarm like 05Chop said. The first thing I would do is disconnect your cables from the battery and clean up all that corrosion (white stuff) on the cables as well as on the battery terminals. Get the battery charge it up and keep on a tender when not being used.

Do you think its a starter kill of some kind, so that your bike will not start unless you use the key. Could be, :loony: :loony: if touching the black wire to the battery neg gets your bike started, I would get think you have a gound problem on that black box. Just grounded to the Battery Neg and you'll be good to go.

Not 100% sure, but I believe its the upgrade module that cuts the headlights when you hit the starter button. That way it delivers all the power to the starter . 1- wire to the EHC and the other to the starter

I think you are correct... My buddy's 02 Pitbull has the same thing... (and it isn't mounted to anything)..

The start module is an electronic version of the start relay with overload protection and fault
indication. The design will improve the starting system while aiding the process of
troubleshooting. The module controls the current through the starter solenoid as the starter button
is depressed. The installation of the module (P/N: BD4120-1) eliminates the EHC, start relay,
and wire harness as part of the solenoid circuit, removing any potential voltage drops in the
harness critical to the inductive load of the starter solenoid. The EHC provides a signal to

I think it should read "eliminates the EHC starter relay....'. It doesnt eliminate the EHC!!!! For what it's worth, my 2002 Pitbul doesn't have it. If you look in the EHC you should not see the starter relay.

Yup,
dat be da start module.

Gotta wrap them 22 guage wires up in heat shrink because they are skinny and very fragile.

I copy all. Thanks for all the outside perspective sart module is what we'll call it. I fixed it today and now I have to just get her to start.
